It Is Finished .....

.... well, almost. All that's left is a little tweaking.
Here are a few pictures of the bathroom:

I'm pretty happy with it. It looks very, very different, which has been both positive and negative. I'm not sure why it's been both .... it's just the way I've felt.
I am done with the renovations.
Right?

In other news .... we have some sort of wild animal trapped in our chimney.
I'm telling you .... never a dull moment.
Never.

This animal (it may be a squirrel, though it sounds bigger) keeps trying to climb out of the chimney and then falls down against the flue .... hard. We have furniture up against the fireplace screens ..... just in case it falls through the flue, which would be just my luck.
Of course Son #3 wants me to open the flue so he can shoot the poor thing with an air soft gun. He doesn't seem to have visions of some crazed animal running amok through our house .... but
I do. So I have a chimney guy coming out tomorrow to try to capture this thing and take it far, far away. I think we're on Day #3 so it seems to be quieting down .... I'm sure it's very tired and hungry. Heck, I know I'd be!

Sons #2 and #3 start back to school tomorrow .... I feel sorry for their teachers. We are so off of our schedules that I think they're going to sleep through the first half of the day. Everyone stays up too late and gets up even later.
But the teenage brain seems to be beyond my control .... they're having a tough time falling asleep at a decent hour .... as is their mom.

Daughters #2, #3 and I saw "Avitar" on Saturday.
What. A. Trip.
It was a very strange, entertaining, long and tree-hugging movie.
We saw it in 3-D, which tends to make one a wee bit nauseous.
Just a wee bit.

Speaking of Daughter #3 ..... she is making dinner tonight.
I may cry.
:)

OK .... that's it for today.
And maybe tomorrow .... depending on how exciting it gets when the animal-removal takes place.
But the next day is Wednesday .... which means you can ask questions .... if you have any.

I'm considering taking a blog-vacation .... I seem to have less to say lately and I'm not sure why.
It's not that I'm not feeling emotions, grief, happiness, etc. It's just that I seem to be less able to express myself and I don't know why.
So we shall see.

I'll keep you posted.

Happy Monday, Peeps.

The bathroom looks beautiful!
Good luck on the creature in the fireplace. We had a mother squirrel give birth to 4 in our attic and then she left or was run over. My guess is your guest is a raccoon.
Happy New Year to you and yours!

The bathroom looks great--would love to see it in person sometime!!

I agree with Nat--you probably have a raccoon. We had one in the attic that we trapped. It tried to escape through the recessed can lights in the kitchen ceiling--not pretty.

Happy New Year!

You have always loved the movies! I have absolutely no interest in this movie, but I love that you did and went to see it!! I too, really like the bathroom...makes me long for an update...don't know if I can talk R. into that! Lastly, should you decide to take a blogging hiatius, I will miss it very much. It gives me joy and comfort to hear from you on your blog. Just wanted you to know!
Love, Vicki

Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!

I believe as far as your feelings about your bathroom that you have removed some of your past and have begun a new future, thus the negative and positive.

The "creature" sounds like a racoon to me. eeewwww!!

I've noticed with bloggers, especially widows/widowers that they tend to slow down or stop when they start dating and/or remarriage. Maybe you don't need the support here as much as you did before -- maybe you are getting a different kind of support now! Life moves forward.

Best wishes to you and hope your life is filled with joy and blessings.

maybe it's because you have other avenues for expressing your thoughts :)

Your bathroom is beautiful! I can understand your mixed feelings. I redid my bedroom and half of me loves it while the other half thinks it's not what I shared with my husband. Everyone told me a few "minor" changes would help me feel better. I'm still out on that one...
I hope you don't give up your blog. I am 18 months into my "journey" and find you such an inspiration; you so eloquently put into words so much of what I am feeling. I have only commented a few times; but I can't tell how much reading your blog as helped me!!! I understand that you might need a break, but believe me, your words are wonderful and you DO describe things so well.

When I was growing up we used to get "critters" as my mom called them, in our chimney all the time. They were usually birds. She would open the flew, they would fall down into the fireplace, and she always, always, always thought that she could open the doors and safely deliver the bird to the out of doors. It never, ever, ever happened that way. The bird always flew out into our house and eventually tried to excape by flying into our sliding glass door, which would knock it unconcious. Then, and only then, would she be able to wrap the bird into a towel and deliver it to the back yard. Sometimes it would come to...sometimes not. Oh, fun times.

Wow, your bathroom looks like it was worth the wait and all that went with it. Is it ask me Wednesday yet? What color paint and paint brand did you paint your masterbath?

Here's my AMW-
Did you do the same Christmas food tradition this year with the cold cuts and munch food?
I always thought it was such a great idea!

I also hope you don't entirely give up your blog, but sometimes a break can be a good thing - I have taken month-long breaks at times, to really try to remember WHY I blog, and they've been good for me. :) That being said, I enjoy reading all of your updates, and asking you questions. :)

Here is my burning question this week: How did you put your babies to sleep (like, little babies, newborns, or under 6 mos old) - did you let them cry themselves to sleep, or rock each of them, or did you use some other method? We did cry-to-sleep with my son, but I hated it, and we are trying rocking & more gentle methods with our 2nd (who is now 2 weeks old). Just wondered what worked for you. :)

Bathroom looks great--would love to see it in person!! Yes, that would be a hint!!)

Would have bet money that the critter was a raccoon. (And they are nasty creatures!!) Glad to hear it was "only" a squirrel.
