I've Lost My Grip on Reality .....

..... whatever small grip I possessed.
I have agreed to go skiing over spring break.
No, not water skiing. That would make too much sense.
Snow skiing.
Snow .... as in ..... that white freezing stuff that I hate to be in.
Snow .... as in ..... I'm going to freeze my butt off and we all know how much I hate that!!!
Snow .... as in .... it's going to be very, very cold and that means that there will be much whining and complaining .... and probably a little moaning.
Snow .... as in .... a 17 hour car drive ...... I can't really even wrap my brain around that.

This whole thing is SO not me.

And that, my Peeps, is what love will do to you.
Make you totally and 100 percent .... lose your mind.

Two of my Crew will also be going ..... one is totally stoked about it, one feels pretty much the same way I do. The cold is not for us.
Not at all.

But .... I have promised to go .... AND not complain. Yes, it's a huge sacrifice ..... huge. It might even qualify as something I give up for Lent ..... whining about the cold.
Whatever .... we all know that's highly doubtful.

I will, however, give it the ol' college try (whatever the heck that really means) and will give it my best shot (as will you, Daughter #3). Who knows? Maybe I'll have a blast.
Maybe I won't mind having a runny nose and numb toes.

Shall we take a vote?

I think it's fantastic!!!! Have a blast. I, on the other hand, am going to AZ and CA on spring break to enjoy the sun (no sun here in Cleveland, voted the worst big city in the country).

Ohhh Sis, we definitely have the same genes. I do NOT like snow. I'm okay with it for a day...but only if I don't have to be IN it. I despise being cold...and even more, I despise being cold and WET. I decided long ago that snow skiing was total insanity and that I would much rather be in the lodge drinking something warm and cozy. Now water skiing...I absolutely loved. I can't do it after breaking my leg twice, but it sure was fun. In fact, I think I might have a picture of YOU on skis!
Give me a Mexican beach ANY day!!!
You are indeed sacrificing:)
I love you!

sometimes, when the sun is shining on the snow (yes, that happens in the beautiful mts. of colorado) and you are shushing through that beautiful white fluff, you don't even feel cold...in fact you get warm. until the sun goes down. then you freeze. then you build a fire in your house/condo/whatever, snuggle up, and again you don't feel cold.

of course, my husband has suggested we go skiing again (haven't been since matt was 1) and i say, "what? are you crazy?" that may be as much a factor of age (i'm too old for this. i might get hurt. i'm a wimp) as the cold. or it may just be the cold.

enjoy!

A Texan vowing to abstain from complaining about the cold for Lent? Oh ... this is rich.

Wendie .... Are you saying that it can't be done?
Hmmmm ..... I smell a challenge! And by the way ... I am NOT a Texan! The fact that I've lived here for 19 years does NOT make me a Texan. :-p

I know this has been a crazy winter all over the country but there have been times when I was spring skiing, that I wish I could shed some of my heavy clothing-it can be very comfortable and not cold. If we have AMW my question is-where are you going to ski?

Oh boy....do you know how many times your brother has heard "I am SO done with snow!!" ???? A LOT!
I love it here, because I know we are NOT staying!! LOL
I do like to go snow tubing but WOW it wears you out! I
'm with you. I would be looking forward to the HOTEL amenities rather than the skiing!! LOL...!!!
I have to admit though, I do REALLY enjoy sitting inside by a fire next to a BIG window watching the skiers! REALLY!! I like that!! A nice book, a cup of coffee and occassionally look up and watch others who enjoy the cold, snow and ski!! I can handle that! (the coffee would be one of the hotel amenities!! ;) I know....I'll say it for you, "Your POOR BROTHER!!!" He's a glutton for punishment!!!

P.S. Michael said to be sure to bring your "Black Sheered Beaver Fur Scarf" with you from Alaska!! ;)

If you are going to CO you will love it. It is the best skiing and as Nat said, you will probably get very warm so dress is layers for easy shedding. By the way, cold in CO is waaaay different than cold here. I grew up in So. Dak. and lived 10 years in CO and loved it, can't handle winters here though, especially this one. Have a great time and drink a mudslide for me. Cheryl
