One of my best friends found out today that her mom has cancer.
Sometimes life just bites ..... doesn't it?
I was supposed to go out with my Circle tonight but instead I went to my friend's house. Another friend and I went over there to just be with her. We ate pizza and drank champagne .....just because.
We talked a lot and we listened a lot.
And we laughed a whole lot. Just because.
We had fun with each other.
She needed that.
Heck, we all need that .... don't we?
In other news ..... I think I'm packed.
Not being a pro at winter-packing, I'm not 100% sure that I have everything .... but what the heck?
I think I have enough to stay warm .... and that's what matters.
I may have to wear the same thing several days in a row, but as long as no one is tacky enough to mention that .... I'm good. : )
Let it be known that I am leaving 80 degree weather to head into the mountains to freeze my butt off.
Let it also be known that I get to spend 17 hours in a car ..... one way.
All I know is that there had better be plenty of wine waiting for us ...... not important to some people, but I'm just saying ......
And since I am leaving on a trip, I'm going to revert to one of my old blog traditions ...... I shall leave you with a question to answer while I'm gone (although I should have blog access up there) ........
Here it is ...... I asked this on Facebook yesterday and received some very interesting answers, so I've decided to ask you, my Peeps ......
I feel totally awkward (and way too old) to use the term "boyfriend" ...... but what can I use instead?
Yes, I've asked him .... and we haven't come up with anything.
"Manfriend" sounds a little .... I don't know, pornographic ..... and "partner" or "special friend" sound too ..... what's the word I'm looking for ..... ummmmm, same sex-like?
So I turn to you, my Peeps ..... any ideas? The best one so far (at least for my sense of humor) is "cabana boy". I love that one but it might be a tad bit inappropriate to introduce C in that manner.
So ...... discuss amongst yourselves .......... and have fun.
:)

"My Old Man"
Beau sounds good.
Gentleman friend has overtones
I have the same issue at the moment - new relationship, although we're 39 almost 40 and 41, so can get away with boyfriend still, although not yet if you know what I mean!
Companion? Date? Lover now has overtones. The man in my life?
I have three options so far: My "new man" for friends, my "boyfriend" to people who I don't know and won't see again. That one won't get used for family and friends until we agree our labels together. And most of the time "This is K"
And let others draw conclusions.
Am hoping that "fiance/husband" comes along some day to make our labels easier.
Friend with benefits!
Have a great trip Janine! Stay warm!
How about,"and I'd like you to meet my really great friend". I think that people should be able to put 2 and 2 together from that statement!
gah, it's not like i'm clever that way. i have friend dating after divorce and she calls her man BT (boy toy). perhaps a bit too juvenile for your tastes.
i love cabana boy, but it does paint you as quite the cougar…
i'll be interested to hear what others have to say. to be honest, i've never really thought about that! i can see what a dilemma that must be!
hope you have a blast skiing. i can understand your trepidation… i'm not much of a cold weather girl either.
cabana boy sounds awesome. go with beau it works or significant other. Friend or no explanation works well. I mean really labels are for other people not us.
another goodie is my man.
Mr C.
My grandmother is a bit of a drama queen and refers to any man she goes out with as her gentleman caller. I love it. Her "gentlemen callers" seem to appreciate it. I think it makes them feel like old school leading men!
For the youngster in you in. "This is Mr.X, we're going steady.". You can call him your steady.
Have fun on your trip. We're driving to ND. No skiing, only cold.
Lisa B.
I love Cabana boy! I think if you just say this is my friend C, people will get it.
Have fun skiing!
How about this is my George Clooney runner up?
JK!
I think just his name will work fine!
i like beau...it sounds so scarlet o'hara-y. and frankly my dear....
Like I said on FB after the discussion...Main Squeeze and Cabana boy made me laugh out loud!!! Love you and have fun on your trip!!!!!
Good evening my darling daughter. I hope all is well in Colorado. All
is well in Texas.
I kind of like Mi Amore. Sounds elegant, don't you think?
Take care and have fun. I love you bunches.
Because mine is from Venezuela, I call him my "novio," but you can borrow it.
Hunk o' Burnin' Love?
LOL!!!
Oh well, I love you anyway!
This question is such a confounding thing. I call J. my friend because this is the absolute highest compliment I can give him. I have never had this friendship part, and even though we have been together for 3+ years, his friendship is the absolute most important part of our "thing". When people laugh at my description, I inform them of the depth of my statement and that usually shuts them up. We call each other "Partner", "significant other" etc because we certainly are that, but it's really not anyone's business. :) Good luck with that question. But don't hesitate to NOT get pulled into other people's "need to know".
Have a super fun time skiing. I, on the other hand, just went to Arizona and California to warm up a bit.
My mom uses "man friend" and I laugh every time, sounds so corny. As an ode you your love of theatre, how about "This is C, my leading man!"
