All Is Quiet ....

.... on the south western front.

Daughter #2 and I are watching the Tonys.  Every once in a while Son #3 walks through the room, but he doesn't stay for long.  Theatre isn't his thing.

Speaking of theatre .... and making a segue over into movies (only because they just showed the commercial for this) .... I can NOT wait until Les Mis comes out in December.  Really.  Can.  Not.
Wait!!!
But, of course, I'll have to.
I'm just sayin' ..... if there's a midnight movie on Thursday night/Friday morning ..... I am SO there!!

So .... we're home.
Son #1 and Daughter #3 left this afternoon for a road trip to Waco/Dallas.
He was taking Daughter #3 to Waco, dropping her off and then heading to Dallas.  I'd love to say he's a wonderful brother who agreed to do this in a second ..... and he did, but he thought she wanted a ride to Dallas.
Until this afternoon ..... when he finally asked why she was going to Dallas.
And then the fun ensued.
:)

Anyway, he ended up going out to dinner with her and her room mate (not Daughter #2, obviously, but Daughter #4 .... in my heart, anyway.  :)
She had started taping the Tonys,  so they ended up going back to their house and watching it.  Son #1 is spending the night.  I bet they're having fun.  :)

So we had a quiet day.
That started very, very late.

The two Daughters (#1 flew back to the east coast yesterday .... thankfully, her gate was next to ours in Cabo and her flight was only about 10 minutes after ours, so we all hung out at our gate), and Son #1 and I went out last night.
(Son #2 went back home and had to go to work today, and Son #3 went to hang with friends after we got in.)
Daughter #2 went to this place down in Houston many, many times last summer, while she worked in Houston.  It's called Pete's Piano Bar .... or Pete's Dueling Piano Bar .... and they have one in other cities.  I had never been, even though she had asked a couple of times.  Of course, it's a bar, so they go pretty late (like after 9:00) and they come home rather early.  Like 2:30.  As in a.m.
And so we did.
I can't believe I've never been before.  That place was a blast!!  The piano players (of which they have a few) are amazing and play requests and everyone sings along and gets up and dances.  It was so much fun!
I need to get a couple of my girlfriends together and we need to hit that place.
And I totally need to get my Circle girlfriends together to go!  So ya'll better bring it up Wednesday night.
(that was an aside to my Circle girls .... you know who you are).

OK .... time out.
Hugh Jackman has just received a special award at the Tonys .... he's talking right now.  His wife, to whom he's been married several years (yay for the Jackmans!!) introduced the award and introduced him.
While I'm very supportive of their marriage .... I'm a little sad that I think I'm cuter than she is and would love to fill that role!!!
OK, kidding.
Kind of.
Of course George still has my heart .... or maybe just my eyes, but every since I saw Hugh on Broadway in "The Boy From Oz" .... twice, he's been #2 on my very short list.
In fact .... I think it only has the two of them on it.
I should work on that.
A longer list would a probably have a higher percentage of meeting someone, right?
Oh ..... just go with it.

OK .... another aside.
The actor who won just won Best Actor in a Musical ("Once", which is supposed to be fabulous) just tore out my heart, by thanking his mother, who lost her battle with cancer on Easter Sunday this year.
Sigh.

OK, where was I?  Oh, yes .... the piano bar.
It was a blast.
And we got home around 2:30.
As in, this morning.
Today.
I felt like I was in college again.
Only much, much older.

So I didn't get up today until 11:00.
And I wasn't the last once to rise.
I just wanted to point that out.

Son #3 wanted to make lunch today for his siblings, since we recently got a Green Egg grill.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, don't fret.  I'd never heard of one before I visited my sister last fall and they cooked on it for us.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.
It beats our gas grill all to heck and back.
If you've never heard of it, Google it.  It's amazing.

Anyway, he grilled ham steaks, in a sauce of green and red jalepenos, grenadine and a couple of other things I can't remember at the moment .... and it was excellent!!

We cleaned up afterwards and I resumed my activity that I'd been doing before we ate .... moving furniture around.
I like change.
Once in a while.
So I move the furniture around.

Jim used to hate that.
Well, only on the nights when he worked really late, and then stumbled into a piece of newly-moved furniture in the dark of the night.
I'd love to say that I did that on purpose, but that would've require way too much thinking ahead .... and we all know that's not my best talent.
Anyway, I wasn't happy with the results so I had all four kids giving me their advice.  Which can be good.
Or very confusing.
But I think the end result was good.  Or at least I'm living with it for a while before I move things around again.

The two kids left on their road trip right after that, I sat down and paid bills and the other 2 kids caught up on their own stuff.
And then it was 6 and Daughter #2 came downstairs to hang.
We watched something that I think was on "60 Minutes", though I could be wrong.
It was a short story about how popular the ukulele is becoming.
And Daughter #2 was less than pleased.
She started playing this instrument about 4 years ago .... before it was "popular".  I guess she started a trend.  Which doesn't seem to please her.
She likes to be unique.
And she is.
To me anyway.  :)

And we had already decided to go into Houston tomorrow to the Guitar Center so that she could look at maybe upgrading to a better ukulele (she bought her first, and only, one there).  So it was kind of ironic that we then saw that story.

I also got all of my laundry done.
If you don't count putting it away.
It's clean.
It's just not where it goes.
But then, neither is most of the stuff lying around my bedroom.
I have mostly unpacked.
But not put away.
Kind of like the laundry.
Oh well.

That should prove to a lot of you how laid back I've become over the years.
Pretty darn, that's how much.

Well, the Tonys are now over so I should probably end this post.
But not before pointing out that "Once" won the Tony for Best Musical.
So all of you Gamma Phis who are going to be hanging with me in NYC in December are being put on notice:  I'm getting tickets for that show.  Vicki and I are planning on going.  The rest of you need to contact me if you'd like to join us.
To see .... you know .... a Tony-award-winning-musical.
Email me.
Or send me a message on FB, since you'll see this post there, too.

Oh, and just to let all of you know that I haven't forgotten you .... here's the picture that I took today of my really pretty bottle of vodka tequila ..... and the vanilla vodka tequila.

I can pretty much assure each and every one of you that .... one year from today ..... I will still have those 2 bottles .... full of the same vodka that's in them today.
That's what a huge drinker I am.
Not.

But at least I have a really pretty bottle.
And two matching shot glasses.
Because .... you know ..... you never know when you might want to knock back some shots of .... something.  And you'd be SOOOO glad that you had really cute shot glasses.
Whatever.

That's all for tonight.
I hope you all had a great weekend.

Happy Sunday/Monday, Peeps.
:)

I'm trying to watch the Tony's here - but no luck with the video in New Zealand. I so love Neil Patrick Harris, and his talent (also how loving his family is, and that he honestly admitted to how hard parenting babies can be)

Have you been drinking my friend or wasn't it vanilla tequila you purchased NOT vodka?

Nat,
No, I had not been drinking, but you are correct. It was, and is, tequila.
That shows my lack of expertise with spirits.
:)

I always win at Tequila Slammers. One of the skills I acquired at Boarding School LOL.

The pix are gorgeous ... I should have known that you and Jim would produce lovely looking kids, but wow, they are ALL gorgeous :-)

I realize you think that already, but my POV is more objective. And you look simply wonderful. The sun and break suits you my lovely friend.

I think of you SO often and hope you are ok with recent events. It will take someone very special and magical to capture your heart. What I really mean is they need to be to deserve your love. Remember that xxxx
