The construction zone is killing me.

This is Jim with his brother who lives in SD. We were flying kites that day on the farm. We flew kites a lot on the farm. In Oklahoma. Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. It really does.

So, back to the construction zone. I may be exaggerating a bit (I know you find that difficult to believe) but it could be true. I can feel my blood pressure rising. That can't be good for me! It's a good thing I'm leaving again because I really do think I would go over the edge. I have never lived like this before. Well, I may have but I seemed to have wiped it from my memory if I did.
The dust in this house is getting deeper by the moment. I have a ditch in my kitchen. At least I was gone while they were jack hammering it and the cats were lying in it. It had dirt, clay, sand in it. I think they jack hammered right through the earth's crust and into the mantle. OK, another slight exaggeration. But only slight.
There is stuff everywhere in my house. And mostly everywhere but except where it actually belongs. And I found out yesterday that I have to clear out all of the cabinets. Before we leave. On Friday. Which is the day after tomorrow. Wait ---- I must pause for a deep breath and a sip of wine .........
OK, I'm back. My breathing is returning to normal.
My dining room is already full of the stuff that we had to clear out for the first week. There is no more room. Here, I'll show you:

The above picture is where we use the coffee pot and the toaster oven. They are squeezed in among pictures and glass items. I know I will soon regret this arrangement, but for now it is what it is. And can I just say that it makes me a bit crazy to see paw prints running across the top of my coffee maker and the toaster oven?! Well, they're everywhere else in the house but those two places drive me nuts.

This is my dining room table. It usually has quite a bit of room on it. At the moment, not so much:

This is a corner of the room. You don't have to look too carefully to see the dust -- all over the floor and everything else:

I shall show you more!

This is the living room, which has turned into the TV watching area. On the small TV over on the right (in the same picture with the wine bottle on the coffee table). We used to watch TV in my bedroom, but that room has now turned into an oven. I thought at first maybe it was the huge plastic sheets blocking the air from the kitchen. Then I thought that maybe it was the air filters, that are so clogged with dirt you could grow radishes on them (I changed them tonight--I'm sure I'll have to do it again in a couple of weeks). Then I figured out what it really is!
I think the fact that the air conditioner is not working might have a little something to do with it. Really, God?!!!!

Here's the kitchen area:

This is my fridge, which is now sitting (and blocking) cabinets and the pantry. We just push it when we need to get into something. Fun!

This is my ditch! They put a gas line in so they had to jack hammer into the floor. Note the hole cut out of the wall, too!

And two more holes!

So that is (most) of my constructions zone. I think that a couple of my lovely children (who shall remain numberless) are totally taking advantage of the piles of stuff everywhere and just dumping things things anywhere (things that should be dumped, I mean .... put away, in their rooms!).
We still have several loads of laundry to do, bills to pay, cupboards to empty and cats to arrange --- all tomorrow!!!

OK, I'm going to have to sign off and breathe and sip some more. It's now past midnight and both my blood pressure and my temperature need to come down so that I can go to bed!!!

Hasta manana --- unless I stroke out.
:)

P.S. I almost forgot that I was supposed to write about the awesomeness of Son #1. I am supposed to sing his praises and make people come from afar to meet him. He made a Wally World run for me tonight, at 10:15, to pick up some shelving units so that we can put the stuff from the kitchen on them for storage -- in the living room.
(Think monotone when you read this next line): Oh my, he is such a wonderful son.... I'm not sure that I could live without him; really, he is the best son in the world. Oh yes indeed. Rah rah. Rah.
P.S.S. It really nice of him to go there (regardless of the fact that I told him he had to go). And he did a good job picking out the shelves. The monotone is because he said I'd "better" sing his praises. So there. Praise, praise, yada yada yada.

Glad to see a bottle of wine and a cherry limeade cup in a couple of the pictures--at least some things are good! As for the stuff everywhere--that looks like my house on a good day! (okay, slight exaggeration) I think your "stuff problem" might be what Public Storage was created for. Have a great trip to SD. susan

OOhhhh, I feel your pain! My house looked like the same war zone just last month. A small water-fest prompted a lot of repair and NO, it's NOT fun! There was drywall/celing repair and a lot of painting. That required lots of *clearing* out of rooms...to the point that most everything was in the wrong room, boxed or piled upon till I no longer knew where ANYTHING was! NOT FUN AT ALL. This too shall pass.

Ya have to keep your eye on the *prize*. Keep telling yourself, it'll all be worth it in the end.

I know that the dirt and piles are driving you crazy, it would me too, but just think how WONDERFULLY AWSOME it is going to look when it is done. NEW, NEW, NEW!!!!!!! I love new. And the countertops...the new range/oven and fridge WOOT!!!!!! See you can have going crazy over dirt and then going crazy over NEW! But, I have never remodeled before so I didn't get stuff dirty and the layer of chalk over everything. So I am sure it would be horrible. So Mom and D move there this weekend? You will come home from SD and mom will be there. Must be nice. She wouldn't have moved to IN for me, she would have made me move back to OK. She did always like you more. Come to think of it, she hasn't come to visit me here in the 5 years I have lived here, oh wait neither have you! Must be some kind of conspirecy. Bitter...me...bitter...oh no, not me! I hope you have a great time in SD with the fam. I will be going to Chi-town tomorrow and will be there until the 8th or 9th. The kids will be back on the 7th. We are both looking forward to thier return. So I will try and get on #1's computer and check in on ya and the SD visit. Have fun and I love you tons! (oh and mom...I was just kidding! I know there is a conspirecy ;) Love you too! Have fun moving this weekend!
