.... between what's good for me .... and what's bad for me.
We've all heard that said, right? Sometimes there's a fine line between love and hate; between good and evil.
Sometimes .... between a friend .... and an enemy. (Now I have found that one to be very interesting.)
Why is that?
Why is it that something can be so very, very good for me ..... and yet can also cause me the most pain?
In my home ..... this is what causes me the very most pain:
This is my favorite picture of Jim. I have an 8x10 of it framed, sitting on my night stand. It's the first thing I see in the morning .... and the last thing at night. It is such a very clear, very real picture. Sometimes I feel if I just try hard enough, when I trace the outline of his face with my fingers ..... I'll be able to feel him, and not the glass.
But, of course, I never do. And yet .... I keep trying.
When I see this picture I cannot believe how long he's been gone. When I'm looking at it, it feels as if he should walk through the door within moments. It feels as if his deep voice will be sounding in my ears any second.
It feels as if he will come up behind me and draw me into his arms and not let go. Not for a very, very long time.
Sometimes I think about putting this picture away. But only for a brief moment.
I'm not sure that the pain outweighs the good yet. Some days it does, most certainly.
But then there are other days ......
It seems that my life if full of very, very fine lines.
And my eyes are a little blurry.

I came across my favorite picture of Don today. It has been almost four years and I still miss him. I will say it no longer is the first thing I think about every morning, nor the last at night, but grief is eternal, as is the love of a God who understands and bears my pain. Blessings!
Hi!
This is my first time commenting but I've been reading for awhile....found you through the Delgado's blog.
Anyways, I thought this picture was super sweet and felt I had to comment. Losing my husband is by far my biggest fear in life but when I look at my two boys, I am comforted to know that a piece of him is living in them. I can see your husband in all 6 of your kids and I know they must be a comfort for you too!
Many blessings and praying for a quick and full recovery from all life has dished on you lately.

Thanks, Marsha ... for the encouragement and for the reminder.
Janine
Jennifer,
Thanks so much for peeking out and commenting.
Yes, Jim does live on in each of our amazing children.
Thank you for not only seeing that, but pointing it out. It's good to be reminded.
It's nice to "meet" you,
Janine
Great picture Janine. I still have a pictue of Ed and its been 15 years. Seeing the picture doesn't make me miss him any more or less. Put it away when and if you choose.
Hope your starting to feel better.

Janine,
As always I am blown away by your writing.
You have a gift my friend. and even though we've only "known" each other a short time I feel as though Ive known you in some ways forever. Your gift is that you put me right there in your room, with that picture and even though i can never ever understand - I share your sadness and your pain.
Love
Jill
Jill,
I agree. I feel that I've known you most of my life. It's amazing. And I think that you write the same way ... I always feel as if I'm there with you ...... seeing everything through your eyes.
And I sigh.
Love,
Janine
The picture of Jim makes me smile yet it makes my heart ache as well. This post is very touching and makes me so aware of how raw and real your emotions are. I'm thinking of you tonight and love you always.
I haven't seen Jim in probably 13 years and his voice, laugh, and manner comes right back. Now THAT's a man that lives on......
We all hold pain and emotions in our bodies and manifest it . . . certain parts of our body hold it deep under the arm, deep in the hip, deep in our chest, and other spots in the body and when it needs to be released it can be oh so painful . . . western medicine might not agree with this but this is what I have learned through alternative healing . . .
Somedays it seems to get easier and some days, it is like it just happened. I don't need pictures to remind me and yet, I have them around--sometimes the picture makes me smile with rememberings and sometimes cry for the same reason.
I'm grateful that you have a community of friends who know where you are and can encourage you and identify with your feelings. You are loved by many and may that bring you comfort and joy today! Praying for your physical healing and joy!
Love,
Julie
I agree with Jill. Your gift for writing helps us connect with the pain in your heart. Such pain...
