Yes, I did say I would not watch it again. And I didn't ..... until my mom came here and forced me to watch it with her asked if she could watch it here.
Since I was too pooped to walk into the other room ..... and mostly since it was a train wreck from which I could not turn away .... I watched.
That was Monday night .... the last show.
Or so we thought.
And just when I thought my mouth could not fall further open ..... that skank of a man propsed to one woman at the end of what I thought was the last show, then .... on the "follow up show" (taped 6 weeks after the proposal but aired the minute the "last show" was over) ...... he skankily broke up with his fiancee on national television so that he could then go back to his second choice.
My mouth was full-out on the floor.
He confessed his loss-of-something (he couldn't quite define what had disappeared over the past 6 weeks) to the host of the show and said that he wanted to give #2 a shot, because he had fallen in love with both of them. If I ever hear that man say "I'm falling for you", "I started falling for you", "I fell for you" ..... or any kind of falling at all ..... I'm going to look him up and have Gabby sit on him.
Anyhooo, the host then brought out Girl #2 (without the skank in the room) and talked to her for a bit.
Yes, she had been shocked by his choice. Yes, she thought he had made a mistake. Yes, she still loved him because you can't just turn off those feelings, you know? (Really? Cuz she certainly seemed to turn them "on" quickly enough. And Mr. Skank turned them on and off at will.)
And yes, it would be a dream come true if he ever called her and said he'd made a mistake and wanted her back.
So the host invited the skank back onto the stage, where he finally admitted that he just broke up with the fiancee and really, really hoped that number 2 would maybe ...... oh, I don't know ... .... agree to go out for coffee or something?
REALLY???? COFFEE???? I think they skipped the coffee train about 3 weeks ago when he slept with the last 3 women ..... but then maybe that's just me.
And here's where this woman ..... this second choice woman ..... could have stopped for a moment and just listened.
It wouldn't have been too difficult to hear ..... every single woman in America who has EVER been dumped was screaming at their TV screen at that very moment.
"DUMP THE SKANK!!! TELL HIM TO SHOVE THE COFFEE!!! LAUGH IN HIS FACE AND THEN VERY CLASSILY GET UP AND WALK OFF OF THAT STAGE!"
But alas, #2 evidently isn't all that classy. She didn't even string him along for a moment or two. She stuttered a bit (I'll give her 1/2 a point for that) and then said yes. And gave him a kiss. Several kisses.
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.
AND THEN ........ last night there was YET another "follow up show" .... shot 6 weeks after the "break up skank-a-thon".
And here's what that skank said .......... more or less word for word ....
"I love #2 because she's my BEST FRIEND." (emphasis mine)
What?
Wait?
Really?
Oh. No. He. Didn't.
Not after the "let's see who has the most passion in the bedroom because I don't believe you can be married to your best friend" show.
I. Kid. You. Not.
That was the main reason he let one of the last girls go ...... she was looking for a best friend in a husband. He didn't like that .... said he wanted there to be much more than that. He wanted to see if she had passion, too.
(Guess she didn't.)
Because, as we all know, that's what marriage is all about. Passion.
I'm not knocking it .... not at all. It's an important part of marriage .... but not THE most important.
If it is, then kiss your marriage goodbye when "in sickness and health" comes; when "for better or worse" comes.
When LIFE comes.
Cuz it ain't all about passion.
It's about love and commitment beyond all reason.
So there ya go.
Hopefully this is the last we will hear of Mr. and the future-Mrs. Skank.
They deserve each other.

never watch the show, so cannot comment on it--but totally agree with your "passion" and "love and committment beyond reason" statements...passion is sooooo temporary and momentary (okay, hopefully a lot of temporary and momentary moments)...but commitment beyond reason is what gets you through the rest of the days.
glad you posted...shows me that you're feeling at least somewhat better. keep resting and recuperating!
oh, i let him have it on my blog, too. love is a decision, an action verb. not a feeling.
he has no scruples, she has no shame and you're right. they totally deserve each other.
I bet if there was someone at your house taking your blood pressure during that awful show, it would have been WAY up! Thanks for reminding me why I rarely watch TV.
Keep getting stronger and I am so happy you are eating and keeping it down.
Love you!
I totally agree with you. He is a skanky man, and honestly, my husband and I, who neither of us had not seen one episode of the this season, ended up watching it and you were right... TRAINWRECK!!!! That was the worst show, and I honestly wished that Deanna had never come back to offer him another chance... she is a bigger idiot that he was. Anyway... thank you for sharing... it was nuts!
hahahahaha....don't EVEN get me started!
I never watched these shows until the last Bachelorette when a friend of mine convinced me to watch. The whole "passion" and "let's all sleep together" thing bothered me, but the marketing of the show is very clever. I got really into it and was actually anxious to see how The Bachelor would turn out. I was similarly disgusted...and decided maybe I shouldn't watch it anymore. Honestly, your posts on it have made me certain that I should not watch it. The things we watch say a lot about us, and we need to be more proactive about filling our minds with things we BELIEVE in and things that make us better people. There's still room for mindless TV (I love Top Model, too!), but I'll be more discerning about what I allow myself to see on a regular basis. Thanks, Janine!
Hope you are feeling better today. I was not surprised that he and Melissa did not make it, however I think the whole lets make a ratings bonanza out of this is ridiculous. There have been internet rumors flying for weeks about the ending and most were right on. I am certain the whole show monday night was staged......no way did Melissa not know this was coming, and no way had he and Molly not seen each other. I think the whole premise of the show is as unreal as reality tv can get.....yet I admit I watch it....and I cant for the life of me figure out why.I think because me and my friend chat and laugh about the unreality of it all and that is fun. I totally agree with your comment about the passion......it is important, but not the most important part for sure. I enjoy your blog and I am praying for you every day. Take care.....enjoy Next Top Model.....I will be "watching it with you...LOL" Dena
