...... back in December.
Ya know ...... back when sweat didn't run down my back just from walking out of the apartment, going downstairs in the elevator and to the lobby doors.

Which brings up another thought ...... when one looks at apartments in NYC in the winter time, it doesn't occur to one to ask if the elevators and hallways of an apartment building are air-conditioned.
But it should.
: )

It's a good thing I'm used to heat.  Lots of heat.
Though I find it a bit ironic that it's hotter here in NY this week than it is in Houston.
Go figure.

I'm starting to wonder why I made this move ..... the heat seems to be affecting my memory.  I have faint visions of plays, musicals, Times Square, snow angels ...... oh! Now I remember!  One of the reasons is those things people call "seasons".  I hear they have 4 of them here.
:)

Beth tried to blame this heat wave on me.
Because you know ...... every time I came up earlier this year ...... there was a snow storm.
Ummmmm ...... I think the people of NY would welcome a snow storm right about now.

Of course, she was trying to say that I just bring bad weather with me.  But I was quick to point out that this heat was here before I arrived, so it obviously can't be pinned on me.
At least I don't think that I have those kind of magical powers.
Or any kind, really.
Dang.

So this is my first time to be in the apartment while having a room mate.
In case you forgot, Daughter #1 moved in back in May.  She'll be here for a year.
At least I think she moved in.
I jest.
She moved in.  I can tell.
Her stuff's here.

She was at work when I flew in yesterday afternoon (after a "lovely" flight experience ..... remind me to tell you about it).
Then she went out with friends after work last night until late.
I was still up when she came in so I did actually have a sighting.
She went to bed shortly after getting in ..... something about having to get up for work in the morning.  Poor thing.

She texted me today to tell me that she'd be out late tonight, too.
And she's going out of town for the weekend after work tomorrow.
It's a good thing I didn't plan to hang with her during this trip.
I'd have been a bit bummed.

But nope ..... I have plans of my own, thank you very much.
It's going to be several days of wild widowing!!

Tonight my hilarious friend Kelley is coming over to hang out and have a girls' night ..... complete with sleepover!!
I told her we're going to make tongues wag in the widda world with all of these shenanigans.
Of course that was after she posted this on my FB page:  "Let's do dinner.  Just you and me."
And then I invited her for a sleepover.
Start waggin'!

Tomorrow my lovely friend Beth comes in from New Jersey to spend the day with me.
(Really, who wouldn't want to come in from New Jersey?  Even if it's just to see me? :)
I love my Beth-time.

And then Saturday Melodie arrives from California!!!  She'll be staying until we both head out on Tuesday.  Whoop!
Of course, I don't think she and I will be be able to get too wild ..... seeing as how she's bringing her beautiful baby girl with her.
It's a burden, but I'll deal with it as best I can.
By holding that baby as much as she'll let me.
The baby, not Mel.
I don't care if she wants to let me or not.
Mel, not the baby.
: )

OK, it's time for me to get ready to welcome Kelley.
I think that means a bathtub full of ice for her to soak in to hopefully slow down the perspiring that will have overtaken her body as she soon as she steps out of the cab.

And maybe a lovely freezing cold margarita.

Let the widda-ing commence!!

Happy Thursday, Peeps.
: )
