I did not get home until late last night. Very late -- well, for me anyway -- after midnight. I have discovered that 5 hours of sleep is not enough.
I have also discovered that my children are trying to become my parents. Here's what happened last night around 11:15 when my cell phone rang:
Me: "Hello."
Daughter #1: "Hello" (said in a strained voice).
Me: "What's up?"
Her: "Where ARE you?"(asked in an even more strained tone)
Me: "At Mrs. K's house."
Her: ---- pause ----- "You don't leave a note?!" (the voice is really getting strained at this point)
Me: "Ummm, I haven't been home to leave a note."
Her: "Well, your son doesn't know where you are, I don't know where you are --- you COULD leave a note!"
Me: "Ummm, sorry. This is where I am."
Her: ---- big, heavy sigh ----- "Fine. Goodbye."
I couldn't have left a note because I had no idea that I would be out that late. I had no idea how the night was going to change from my original plan. But it did and I didn't so there you go. I also didn't realize how late it actually was until she called.
And let me just point out that she doesn't feel the need to call me at 11:15 to tell me where she is.
So I'll have to call her the next time she's out.
And take the parenting button back.
P.S. This is a question for everyone who lives in my area: Do you have a cleaning person that does a great job? I am in need of someone, but it should probably be more than one person. Help!!!

It's good to let them worry a little. They get a tiny idea about how we feel.

I hear mom will be there soon and I know she LOVES to clean houses. Big ones! So you might see if she is up for the challenge (hee hee) If I where living there, I would do it for you. Your house isn't that hard to clean, you keep it very nice, it's only down fall is its just so freekin huge! I know this question was for people living around you, but I thought I could be a smart butt and add my two cents!!! Love ya!
That is so funny the kids parenting you! Humm, I'm (Lucy)the cleaning lady on Mondays or Fridays and as of this week the gardner until its finished. Wedn. I emptied 20 bags of topsoil,10 bags of mulch. Thurs I had my weekly visit to the chiropractor spent the rest of the day in the recliner exhausted, needless to say Lucy (me)the housekeeper didn't show up Friday so she's fired. Yea! I wish. Oh well I'm waiting for a good bonus for all the hard work I'm doing.waiting...... still waiting..
Okay I being silly, huh

Sell the house and buy a new one! WHA-LA! CLEAN!!
The roles definately reverse when the children grow. You just taught them well. Better for them to worry about you, than not think of you at all!
Right?
(I know you were already thinking that!)
Hope you have a great day. It is raining...wait...it is SNOWING here!! We will be SO ready for a WARM climate when we leave here!
XOXO

Count me in as a regular blog viewer! Okay, maybe not every day, but on my days off from work I play "catch-up" & read the ones I've missed.

That would be great, thanks. The house is on the large side so it would be a lot for one person to clean, but I'd sure take one of she came highly recommended and does a great job!
I love you Mom!!! I was kidding! Kiss Kiss!
Hey J~
I too have had my kids turn into me....Weird!! But kinda cool too!
Sorry I haven't written to you since I was blessed to see you at the reunion....I haven't caught up on everything since being gone! I absolutely am praying for you and your family. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us. You are truly incredible~
I wish that it had not taken so many years to catch up with you....but I hope it won't take that long to stay caught up now.
Sending love and prayers from Georgia!

I see in the picture that your brother-in-law has the still mandatory Eskimo Joe's tee shirt on. It's hard for me to explain to people in this part of the world how one little restaurant could have created a culture for the last 30-40? years.
LOVE the sailboat analogy. I might use it in a presentation to my faculty. Sailboat=school=education=children cheering from the shore? I'm still working on it. Know that you have a little dingy rowboat over here in Orlando splashing waves to push your boat.
You're supposed to clean the house??
