Still no power but the weather continues to be awesome so everything seems better.
I only had to wait in line for an hour to get gas yesterday. Then I waited another hour to get some pizza and pasta to take home.
Then we found out that a local Mexican restaurant was open last night so we joined the rest of the community for margaritas!! They were like nectar!!
A guy came today to ground the stump down from the fallen tree. I still need to find a roofer to fix the hole (here and at the lake).
Son #3 and I were out today and we came back in from the freeway with about 100 utility trucks from Michigan! YAY Michigan!!! I felt like I was in a movie and the Americans were coming in to save us!! Hopefully this means power will be restored soon. I waved and yelled, "Thanks for coming" to all of them. Son #3 was mortified and tried to duck down into the car. Three points for mom!
I had to toss all of my fridge and freezer stuff today, so at least I don't have to worry about that anymore.
Son #2 continues to send heart-wrenching letters (and one e-mail). I'm not looking forward to seeing him this weekend and listening to the same stuff he's writing. I won't bring him home, but I also just don't want to hear it. I'm not sure I have much strenth left to withstand the onslaught.
So please keep praying for him and for our visit. I'd rather keep going on without power than have to deal with this!!
Mother of the Year, alright.
Oh, and thankfully the hurricane did not hit the military school (or near it) because I wasn't bringing him home for that, either.
And THAT would have been an entire book by itself!! Maybe an encylopdia on what a HORRIFIC mother he has!!! 'She wouldn't even rescue him from a hurricane!!!'

I just have to tell you that Monday night after reading your post about the trees falling on your homes I asked my bible study group to pray for you. All of them were moved by your struggles the last few months. The next lady sitting next to me asked us to pray for her son's safety. He works for Consumers Energy and she said he was going to Texas to help with the relief effort. Now who knows maybe one of those Michigan trucks was her son. Maybe a coincidence that you observed the trucks from Michigan but I think there may just be a heavenly message tucked in there somewhere.

I can't wait to hear you and son #2 tell this story in 10 years, 20 years, etc. You are doing THE THING this is destined to help him. TRUST ME, he will know it in spades a few years down the road AND be able to thank you for it. Stay firm, mama!
Just think if son #2 put as much work into his school work as he does in his heart wrenching letters how successful he would be.
Ah man, hurricane, son #2, hole in the roof....not sure which one I would feel up to tackling first. Hopefully, your son will hear the words and believe them... you know those words... "Mother knows best!" Or, maybe he will understand just how much you really, really do love him.
Good Luck.... You are in my prayers, as you have been for a long time.
You just continue to amaze me! You're like an Energizer bunny that just keeps going and going:)
I love the story about you waving to the utility trucks! We live to embarass our children, don't we?
I know this weekend is going to be trying with Son #2, but stay tough! You're doing the best thing for him, and someday he'll know it.
I love you tons and tons. (But I still think maybe you should move closer to me. We don't HAVE hurricanes!)

Glad to hear help is on the way! Wish I was there to help in some way. So you know that after you get over this storm you will have no more trying times for a longggg time(power of positive thinking???). We can hope can't we? Sorry I haven't called you all in a few days(you too Mom), I've been getting things back in order after my trip. Lots of paperweork and more doctor appointments. I don't have to go back to work until the 1st so that's cool. So far the back is doing good, but we have a couple of weeks to go before I know for sure.
We miss you all and are praying for you all!
Love ya,
Little Bro
I'm so glad your're getting help from other states with the power. I know how elated you feel to see the trucks rolling in. We had the same feeling last year after our Dec ice storm. I hope your power comes back soon.
You are a great mom and have to do what you know is best for your children. I doubt he will ever thank you for sending him off, but maybe in the very distant future he will understand. Hopefully he will find his niche there and excel at it.
J, Can we still write to P, or will he be leaving there after "boot camp"?
Thanks,
Lis
