No pics today .... I thought you might understand.
I'm at my office at our church. The church has power.
I do not.
We lost power around midnight on Friday.
I'm not sure about lightening striking twice, but falling trees do.
In fact, they stike three times.
Yep, I have a tree on my house.
And on my lake house.
I am overwhelmed and drained all at the same time.
The tree here fell onto the garage and punched a hole into the attic, and the rain poured in. But the good news is that is was on the garage and not on the living space. The better news is that it was not on my kitchen.
The tree at the lake fell on the end of the house, over the room where we store things, and the rain poured in. Again, the good news is that it did not fall on the living space, but on a seperate room.
So now I need a roofer. Two roofers, to be exact.
I had some awesome friends come over today after church to help me clean up the yard. They also trimmed the tree and moved it off of the hole so that they could patch the hole. The tree is too big for them to move off of the house so I also need a tree-guy. Or a tree-girl, I'm not choosey.
I went to church this morning but I could not pray nor could I sing. I cried. The whole time. I'm not sure what it is I'm supposed to be learning this year, but I think I'm done. I wish God would just let me have a little time to just be.
Add it to the list of "things" I don't get.
So, we are all physically OK. They tell us that the power may be out for two weeks to several months. Let's hope "they" are wrong. School has been shut down through Wednesday.
The "fun" part of being without power is over.
Pray for power. All kinds of power.
And thanks for checking on us and for praying for our safety.
:)

Oh, my goodness, I'm so sorry! I'm SO glad your new kitchen didn't get ruined, though!
I can't believe all the things God is throwing your way! I will pray that He will give you a break! :) Hoping things look up for you soon!
Sending lots of love your way to all who were affected - and an extra dose to you, friend, who in spite of everything that has happened, dares to wonder what she should be learning. Maybe to always ask the question? You are incredible.
Keep in mind, God doesn't put more on you than He thinks you can handle. I'd say God has a pretty high opinion of you!!
And when the going gets rough, have some pie.
I am so glad to see your post. So sorry to hear of your damage. Praying for power, all kinds of power. Thankful you are all safe. May He be the lifter of your head. Psalm 3:3. I will be praying.
I am so greatful you are all ok! I guess the break thingy is WAY out of the question. What IS God wanting you to learn? I think you have had enough on your plate to last yours and my life time!!!!!! I am sooooo sorry you have to go through all of this @#%*. Sorry for the symbols but I'm just not understanding this whole thing! I hope and pray that power will be back sooner than expected! I love you J and think of you constantly!
Glad to hear you're safe and no physical harm came to you. Sorry to hear about the aftermath you'll have to deal with. Praying that all of that will go quickly and smoothly for you and everyone else affected by Ike. You are welcome to hang at my house although I realize I'm a little far away here in Jenks but we can house you and your fam! Praying power will be restored quicker than their estimate!
Love you,
Julie
I am glad to hear you are physically OK. I can not begin to imagine what your family has endured the last year, but you all remain in my prayers. I don't know you, but know "of" you through our mutual friend...I am still waiting to hear from the Price family...I pray for them and my entire Kingwood "family". (We just moved to Dallas a month ago from Kingwood). Take care of yourself and your family and know that you are being thought about and prayed for...

So glad you are okay and have recieved only minimal damage although minimal to you right now still must seem overwhelming.
Crying is good. David certainly did his share of crying out.
Love your Song of Songs scripture beneath the picture.

I'm glad you guys are ok, but I'm bummed to hear about the trees! I'll be praying that things get resolved quickly for you. Silvana :)
so sorry J!! That stinks!! Driving around my neighborhood there are so many downed trees, trees through roofs - it's a mess. I also am without electricity but right across 1960 my friend has it - go figure. It's kind of a nightmare getting around, but you gotta know where to go. You can get cell phone reception on the bridge to Huffman over Lake Houston if you didnt know that! :)
Have You Seen My Mind,
I've been going over several mom blogs and your story struck me as particularly interesting (good luck with the storm cleanup). My name is Lauren, I'm an intern with Rev. and my group is coordinating a community-outreach effort for the REV Spokesperson Contest. After looking at your site, I feel that your audience would be interested in knowing about us and our little contest! The idea is simple: we’re looking for healthy, active moms who can tell their story, give advice and empower moms who aspire to “do it all” without neglecting themselves.
REV. product features 3 varieties of Epsom Salt (for Moms, for Athletes, and for Families), but rev-life.com is an online community centered on health, going green, and finding the energy to get it all done! For our members, it offers blogging, social networking, and tools, such as calendars and photo-sharing.
We'd love to do a link-exchange, but right now we're in the process of setting up our blog-roll.
In addition to $1,000.00 cash and a 6-month supply of REV., there are quite a few perks and although only 5 moms throughout the U.S. will receive the Spokesperson honor, everyone who enters will be contributing to an online community that has been created to support, inspire and equip them with resources.
Can you reply and let me know if that sparks your interest and if you would be willing to post information or otherwise help us spread the message? We can offer 50, 100, 150 word write-ups if you are willing to tell your community about us.
Check out this link for more information http://www.rev-life.com/?BCRGUID=REV5396
Please let me know if you have any questions.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Lauren

Oh my goodness. I'm so glad you all are okay, but wow, I completely understand feeling overwhelmed by the clean-up process. My parents house is okay and the lake house is miraculously still standing (it's a pre-fab and was brought in on a truck like 50 years ago, I thought for sure it would be blown away!), though the bulkhead and dock suffered some damage. I hope you get a good roofer and tree-person and some really good ice cream soon!
