Musing Monday

This is my dog on crack:

OK, not really on crack.  But this is how I imagine she would be on crack.  She thinks this other dog is a real dog who just won't play with her!

She licks the mirror.  She whines at the mirror.  She jumps all over the mirror.

                                         All to no avail.

And then ..... depression sets in.

And so she looks for the nearest lap:

She absolutely loves Son #2.  She sat in his lap for quite a while today.  And he very graciously let her.

And then he took some pictures of her while she was sleeping ..... and snoring.

And THIS ..... is Daughter #1!!!  I am so happy to have her home!!!

OK, now I can answer some questions that have been asked on the comments.  No, it's not Ask Me Wednesday yet, but I'm very flexible!
Gabby's leg seemed to be better ... until yesterday.  Now she's limping just as much as she was before.  I don't know what to do.  I guess I'm just waiting to see if it gets better by itself.  I really don't want to take her back in and be totally sedated so that they can do x-rays.  Not yet.

To the anonymous person who asked about the teenage daughter:  I totally thought I had answered your first question!!  When I looked back I found that I had not.  I'm very sorry and will address it, and your last question, this Wednesday .... I promise!!!

As to the dedication of Jim's building .... yes it is for the public and it will be, as far as I know, on the 19th at 3:00 p.m.  I would love for every single person I know to be there, but that's asking a bit much.
Anyway, the more friends we have there, the more support we will feel.

And to answer the questions on how big Gabby will get:  she currently weighs about 75 pounds.  Her mom weighs 165 and her dad weighs 210.  Yes, as in TWO HUNDRED and ten pounds.  So I'm guessing she has about 100 pounds to go!  And while I think a medium sized dog would be easier to handle, I love her temperament and her love for us and everything else about her.  I know what I'm getting with another one of her siblings so that's what I'm thinking about.

As for marking "the date" .... no worries.  I shall not be jumping out of a plane.  Or anything else for that matter.  Well, I don't "plan" on jumping out of anything, but who knows what may happen!  Still not sure what we're doing, but I'll know in the next few days.

I am still enjoying Son #2's presence here.  He has been so much fun to have around.  He and I watched "Bridezillas" today .... what a hoot.  I just enjoyed sitting here with him and laughing with him.  We can laugh a lot together.  Keep up the prayers!

Son #1 and Daughters #2 & #3 come home tomorrow!!!  I don't think I've been this happy in quite some time.

Well, I think that's it for tonight.  I am content.
And that is so very huge.

I agree with you on waiting on Gabby's leg, but not too long. I still think she is awful young to have a cruciate rupture but you can't rule it out. It may have been too much activity too soon. Try as best as you can to keep her from running, jumping up on her hind legs and doing stairs. Support her with a towel under her tummy to get her upstairs and only take her up at night for bed and then back down in the morning. If she is not better, then let me take her to work with me to sedate her and I will only take an xray if I can't feel what is going on. I also have 2 other vets there with me to give 2nd and 3rd opinions. So, do all the rest and giving her the anti-inflammatories (nsaids) over the holiday and then if still limping, we should take a look the week after Thanksgiving. I am hoping for the best for her!

Love,
Melanie

Good evening my darling daughter. I'm so glad that you are having a great week. What a joy when all six are together again. We're looking forward to seeing them all.

Poor baby Gabby! She surely needs a playmate. The kitties just don't do the trick.

We love you bunches and will see you soon.

I would just like to point out that Gabby isn't actually sitting in anyone's lap....she is sitting on top of people. I don't know that PK had much of a choice when he "graciously let her." :)

Poor Gabby is lonely...get her a moose!!! (grin)
I REALLY think the leg issue is probably pano and not to be real worried about. It comes and goes because their bones are growing so guickly. There are some things that you can give her to help the pain, but generally keeping her quiet is better that drugging her:)
Okay...I SOOOOOO have to talk to you! I'm going to have to call because you wouldn't believe it!
Maybe I can call tomorrow:)
Love You!
(and kiss every single kid there for me!)

J,
The pics of Gabby are a hoot - poor thing! I still would like to bring B & S over to see her, but will wait until after your crew has cleared out. I'm so glad that everyone is coming home for the holiday and that you're enjoying all the company.

I would love to come to the dedication, and wanted to bring the kids... but I'll have to work on logisitics. The 19th at 3pm (Dec - right?) is still during their school day and happens to be their holiday party time.

I have an Ask Me Wed question - for whenever you get to it... At what point (age) did you start "talking turkey" to your kids (you know, the birds and the bees - turkey just seems to be a more fun description this week :))? Was it the same for the boys as the girls? Who handled the deed (you or Jim, and with which gender?). And if you care to elaborate, how did you go about it?

Just thought I'd spice things up a little! Have a great visit with the family and a good Thanksgiving

OMG the pics of Gabby and the mirror are a hoot! And cute all sprawled over son #2 :) When I read your other post about the dogs running all over the house and being spastic i thought you'd said "Trhat is why I want a smaller dog" missing the key word "don't" and I thought, OMG has she lost her marbles?! ;) hee hee.
