.... to answer your questions.
Yep, I'm finally packing.
Three days early rather than the morning of the trip. Really.
That's because I have to leave in the morning for a wedding out of town, which I won't return from until late Saturday night.
And my flight to Rome is Sunday morning.
Ummmmmmm .... yeah, I'm sure I'll forget many things.
I. Am. So. Ready.
Seriously.
Well, I'm emotionally ready ..... I'm still not packed so I guess I'm not physically ready.
Yet.
Not only do I get to go to a wedding tomorrow but I also get to meet up with D#2, D#3, S#1 and S#3. Son #2 will be traveling with me.
I always look forward to spending time with all of them.
And then Sunday I will meet up with D#1. All 6 kids in one weekend.
: )
I received some stunning news last night.
Good news, but stunning none the less (I just love using the phrase "none the less").
One of my Circle friends is getting married.
In the Fall.
Oh. My. Goodness.
She's been dating her guy for about as long as I've been dating C.
Wow.
I am so thrilled for her.
She's very happy.
Her husband died the month after Jim died ..... from the same cause.
We both agreed that we've come a very long way.
And that we have been blessed.
And that God is good.
OK, Peeps ..... on with the questions and answers ......
RJ asked:
If you had had *another* set of Twins. (S4 and D4) did you have names picked out?
Hmmmm ..... that takes a lot of memory .... and I'm not sure I have enough.
I always loved the name Tucker for a boy, though Jim would not agree because he thought a boy named Tucker would be teased for obvious rhyming words. Sigh.
If we had another girl we would have named her Hannah.
I love that name and I admire Hannah in the Old Testament.
RJ also asked:
I was watching Sean Connery as James Bond, and by jove, he looks so like George Clooney. So - Sean v George?
While I do love watching Sean Connery in anything (he is SO good looking) George wins out. It's no contest. At all.
George.
Sigh.
And this:
If you could choose to have any fantasy career now (if you were 25, with the array of options open now that have evolved over the past few years) what might that be?
And this:
If you could choose to have any fantasy career now (if you were 25, with the array of options open now that have evolved over the past few years) what might that be?
That's easy. I majored in Theatre. I'd choose acting as my fantasy career.
Hands down.
Second choice would be a mid-wife.
Go figure.
And this:
Do you have any special laundry tips for dealing with 6 children?
Do you have any special laundry tips for dealing with 6 children?
No. Other than teach them to do their own laundry by the age of 8. Seriously.
They can do it.
Mine did.
And RJ's final question:
What would the one piece of advice you'd give a new mother?
What would the one piece of advice you'd give a new mother?
The best piece of advice that I could give a new mom is to hold on to the knowledge that this baby will be much easier at 3 months. Really. Until 3 months you are exhausted and a baby doesn't really respond to you, except to look for the food source when he/she hears you or smells you.
By three months they're smiling and responding and sleeping better.
And life looks much better then.
So just hold on.
Susan:
What's the one thing most on your "to see list" in Greece? what's your itinerary? (or is D1 in charge of that, and not telling you?) Just staying in the big cities (what are the big cities in Greece?) or are you heading out to some of the islands? doesn't george have a place in Greece, or is that Turkey?
I don't have a "must see" list yet. I'm planning on reading the tourist books on the plane. And yes, D1 will be mostly in charge of that. She's wanted to go to Greece for a very long time, so we will mostly see what she wants to see. I just want to lay on a beach.
We're visiting the bigger cities .... Athens, Santorini, Mykonos and Ephesus. We're doing Istanbul, Turkey for 2 days, Naples and Rome. We're staying on the ship each night, though.
And no ..... George doesn't have a place in Greece or Turkey (as far as I know). He has a villa in Italy, but not near where we'll be. Dang-it!
Anon:
Where IS the rest of this moose?
Although this person posted anonymously I know that it's my friend K, who loves the movie "Arthur" as much as I do.
The rest of the moose is in the next room because he was too embarrassed ("this must be very embarrassing for you") to be totally seen.
Anon:
Have all the kids accepted your relationship with C? Are you talking marriage any time soon?
Hmmmmm .... good question. The ones who weren't so accepting of it in the beginning are doing much better now. I still don't think they're thrilled with the whole thing, but they are acting better and being nicer. Everybody's growing up.
As for talking about marriage any time soon .... no. We talk about it but have nothing planned.
Things are good right now.
We'll see what happens.
:)
OK, that's it for now. I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again. I'm taking my computer with me .... and the Peeps, so I'm hoping to post and upload pictures while I'm traveling.
But .... just in case it's a while before I get back here ..... I must leave you with a question, mustn't I?
Hmmmmmmm ...... I shall have to ponder this for a moment .....
A-hah! I think I shall borrow a question from RJ.
OK, Peeps ..... if you could choose to have any fantasy career now (and it's a fantasy so don't think about obligations, children, spouses, money, etc. Just go with it.) ...... what would it be?
You already read mine, so ......
..... discuss amongst yourselves.
Oh .... and Happy Thursday, Peeps.
:)

Ooh, tricky - I'll have to answer my own question!
I think I'd be a musical song and dance star.
Second choice...undercover five star hotel and restaurant mystery shopper!
Always just wanted to be a "housewife and mom", but always worked outside the home. Retired at 54 when our company relocated, so for the last 13 years have have the "housewife" portion of that career.
I'd like to be a sheep farmer. Deliver the lambs and then watch them skip and play. Since losing money is no object... it would be a great occupation.
Happy belated birthday! I thought of you and your big day yesterday!
I've been on vacation so I am catching up on your blog and truly enjoying the travel log and hearing about your adventures.
To answer the question about my fantasy career, it would definitely be working for Frommers or Rick Steves, traveling the world and reporting back about all of the exciting, beautiful places
I've been but as you can read, I would leave the writing for someone else to do while I travel some more!
