Son #2 seems happy with his classes. No complaints, no grumbling.
He also spent an afternoon working out at the Marine recruitment office .... and he seemed to like it.
Thank you, God.
And Peeps.
:)
Son #3 seemed to have a good week.
He had his first football game of the season last night.
Alas, it did not go so well.
The game was full of "first game blunders" .... the scoreboard worked some of the time, the refs seemed to do the same .... as did some of the players.
Oh well .... there's always next week.
Daughter #1 is doing well back east. Though I think she's a bit lonely so prayers for friends would be nice.
Daughter #2 is doing very well and busy working and taking a class so that she can apply to grad school.
Daughter #3 ..... well, that, my Peeps, requires many prayers.
She's having a very tough time, to say the least.
It's her first year of teaching.
She has 13 deaf students .... ranging from kindergarten to fourth grade.
Yes, you read that right.
She is responsible for teaching 5 different levels .... at the same time and within the same time frame as the other teachers who teach ONE hearing grade.
These children are all way behind in their education. They have been treated as "throw aways" .... seemingly by education professionals as well as parents.
This. Is. Insane.
She spends all of her free time working on lesson plans .... from too early in the morning until too late in the morning (2:00 a.m.).
She would love to quit, but she feels that she should make a stand for these children. A stand that no one before her seemed to take.
I am heart broken for her. And fiercely proud.
Her father is, too.
Son #1 made it to Spain on Wednesday. He is now visiting a friend in France before he heads back to start school.
What a life.
:)
So it's been a mostly good first week.
I read a friend's Facebook status the other day and she wrote that she must be a bad mom because she told someone that she was glad that school had started.
Ummmmmmm ..... yeah.
I replied that I must be a horrific mother (of course). When Son #3 started kindergarten I hosted a pool/freedom/margarita party to celebrate.
Sad?
Nope.
But then ..... I am the mother who will have 6 "Mommy Dearest" books written about me. Well, maybe not 6, but at least 4.
So there you go.
Que sera, sera.
Happy Friday, Peeps.
And Happy First Week of School for those of you to whom that applies.
:)

Wow. I can't imagine the workload that your daughter is under! That must be SO difficult! What a great woman to keep struggling through to help those kids - you have raised an amazing daughter! I will be praying for her! My sister-in-law is an interpreter for a kindergartener who is deaf, in a public school, and she tells all kinds of horror stories about the way deaf children are treated- it makes me sick! :(
