Hi Peeps!
This comes to you from Corfu, our last port in Greece. Tomorrow we'll awaken in Kotor, Montenegro.
Yeah, I'd never really heard of it, either.
Kudos and lots of props to Mollie B, who was the firt person to answer my question correctly. "Do vidjenja" means goodbye in Croation. Good job, MB!
And Susan .... I have never been to a whorehouse (that I'm aware of). W has a wicked sense of humor. I can only think that she was referring to my watching of Daughters 2 & 3 in "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas".
Maybe.
As for behaving myself or, as Nat used to thnk, being a "rule follower" .... ha!
All it takes is for someone to tell me that I can't do something .... something inane that shouldn't be disallowed in the first place ... something you would never have thought of doing ... for me to want to go and do it.
For example .... yesterday we were in Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic games. Yes, it was very cool.
We went to the museum there, but before we went in, our tour guide had to give us a oouple of rules. And yes .... my radar went up immediately.
The first rule was "no flash pictures". Hey, I'm cool with that one. I understnd why that's a rule and I always follow it (but rarely, if ever, follow the "no photos rule". Yes, you may call me a "rebel".)
The second rule was this: no posing next to the pieces of art.
Ummmmmm ....
Seriously?
Of course I posed like a maniac.
Which is quite easy to do with an iPhone 4. It has a camera that turns around so that the person holding it can see and take pictures of themselves. So it looks like you're taking a picture of something in front of you when you're actually taking a picture of yourself or something behind you.
Totally cool.
And fun.
Especially when breaking stupid rules.
I'll post those when I get home, as well as the pictures of Greek cookbooks that I took today for RJ. I wasn't sure which one you meant so I took pics of all the ones I saw ..... About 35
or 40.
Really??!
No.
I jest. It was only 3 or 4.
:)
OK, that's all for now. Time to get ready for dinner.
Or get a drink.
The taking of vacations is very hard work, Peeps. :)
Keep those cmments coming. The posting of multiple comments (but different) might be counted, too.
And .... the item(s) in this giveaway may or may not include alcohol.
:)
Kaliniktata, Peeps.
UPDATE: WOW!!! Look at all of you coming out into the open!! I may have to do Giveaways more often! And rest assured, each and every one of you is a Peep ..... yes, even you Lurkers. :)
So tonight we are on our way to Corfu, another Greek island. We went to Santorini today. Kudos to those of you who remembered that Daughter #1 and I did indeed
OK, so we're not really better because of it. I'd say we are a bit smarter .... we'll never climb a volcano again!
Keep the comments coming. You'll be so sorry if you miss out on my Mediterranean giveaway!
I'll continue to update here .... you continue to comment.
Do vidjenja, Peeps and happy Tuesday.
Extra points to the first person who translates that. One hint: it's not Greek.
:)
..... los Peepos.
:)
I'm heading out bright and early in the morning. I'm hoping that I'll have spurts of internet while I'm gone so I can update once in a while and maybe upload some pics.
My mom and I are heading to Athens tomorrow and the cruise starts Monday.
Alas, this time I will not be trying to help Greece out of its economic nightmare. I just don't have it in me. I gave it my very best shot last year .... I really did.
But did I get even a postcard as a thank you note from Greece?
I did not.
My hugely heroic attempt to lift them out of the red was not appreciated.
Which is really unfortunate for them.
Just one teeny, tiny "thanks" from them ..... and I'd be going full throttle over there, buying everything I could haul and/or ship home.
So I shall turn my attention to Dubrovnik. Or Venice.
Or Santorini.
Which ..... if any of you remember ..... was where I ............
Nope. I'm not going to tell you.
Instead, I'm going to leave that as my question to you.
We shall see how many of you have been paying attention.
We shall also see if ANYONE reads this blog anymore.
Hello? Anyone out there?
******** <------------ the sound of crickets chirping --------------> **************
OK, if anyone is still reading, and remembers what Daughter #1 and I did in Santorini last summer, please post a comment.
Or, if anyone is still reading ..... and has no idea ..... post a comment.
Or, if anyone just started reading ..... post a comment.
That goes for all of you Lurkers, too.
If you lurk ..... post.
I will bring back something really cool for one of you.
No, I have no idea what it is ...... but it will be cool.
So post a comment and you'll have a chance to receive whatever cool thing I bring back.
I'll choose a number at random.
So yes ..... this is a Giveaway!
And an attempt to get most of you (because I know ALL of you Lurkers will not unlurk) to come out of the woodwork.
If you post anonymously please write at least your initials or first name in the comment. I can't really pick someone who's totally anonymous, now can I? I do not have Sucker written on my forehead.
(It might be written somewhere else, but it's definitely not on my forehead.)
So there you go, Peeps.
I shall return in a week and a half.
Unless I meet a really hot, rich, funny, unmarried man.
Stop laughing.
It could happen.
Happy Friday/Saturday Peeps.

Aunt J - As requested, I give you a comment! I am a faithful lurker! Well, not so much a lurker... I have your blog on my google reader. Thus, every time there's a new post, I know and I read it! It's kinda pathetic that it takes a giveaway for me to post a comment... but I do have to admit that I think a little Greek something (if even a post card) would add color to my piece of aloha.
Love you! - Anna
I do not know if I am considered a lurker or one of your peeps, but I do comment once in a while. I really do like your blog and can relate to so much you say. Have a wonderful and safe trip. Sounds wonderful. If you happen to find one of those fellows you mentioned, could you see if he has a little older friend and bring him back for me?? In fact that could be the gift you are going to bring back for me! :o)
Hi! I'm a lurker, but I think I have commented a couple of times AND signed my name! Ha! I believe that you and your daughter climbed to hell and back via a volcano. I've done that in Arizona, but I'm thinking that yours was a little more intense. Same result! Big deal on the view. Enjoy your trip with your mom!
Mollie B.
Go to Oia this time....skip the volcano! Didn't you lose or break your camera too? Have a great time. See you in 2 weeks. LE
Ooooh! I'd love something from Greece. Enough to come out of lurkerdom!
Have a fantastic trip!
I'm a regular lurker (ummm, I mean reader). I specifically wrote on my list of things never to do the volcano climb in Greece. Enjoy this trip with your mom!
PS I forgot to sign my name to the anonymous comment. Sorry! Jo Ann C.
Well, there was that time that you got caught taking prohibited pictures. I also remember you hanging out at a whorehouse once...
I'm here! Bon Voyage to you and
Mama. Cruises are a wonderful time. Greece has been on my list of must see places since I was 12.... still have not made it. The closest I've been is when my cousin went a brought me back a real olive branch. I kept that for years until it finally disintegrated. Send pictures please. I shall live vicariously through you :).
Happy Sailing,
Roma
I don't think I'm a lurker, Surely I've left a comment a time or two :) I can't rememeber what you and your daugter did last year...but I'd sure like to hear all about this trip. Have a wonderful time and I sure hope you meet that hot, funny unmarried man while you're away :)
I am a lurker, dont post much but I follow you along. have fun on your trip.
And just for fun I've invited you to join me at my blog. It's Dairy Nice Here. It's just a place where I post a bit about our life, our work, our farm, a lot of our dog and a tid bit of our kids as well :) I'd love to hear from you if you make it over
I guess I am what you call a lurker. Love your blog. I have no idea what you did with your daughter last year, but I wanted you to know that I am here and am inspired by you. Have a great time on your trip, you deserve every minute of it.
You got busted by the Greek cop for trying to take a photo of your "Peeps" but alas, the photo did survive because you did not delete like you were told. I always thought you were a rule follower but I was wrong!
Have an awesome trip and give your Mom a big hug from me!
Love you,
Nat
Alright, alright, you got me. I'm a lurker. But I have an image of you scrambling for hours upon hours on hot black sand to get to the top of a big pile (a VERY big pile) of hot black sand. And if I recall, you were none too pleased about this adventure. Am I right? Have fun on your trip! --Andra
Hi,
I must confess to being an avid lurker who likes to be thought of as a peep. Hope you have a great trip.
Marcia
Climbed a hill that was not worth climbing?
And maybe saw a donkey?
Mostly lurker, but have left a few comments. I think you were climbing the volcano last year with your daughter, which you called to hell and back or something close if I recall correctly. Hope you enjoy your trip, no harsh climbs but all relaxing this time around!
Well, you know me. I hope you both have an amazing time in the Med, and that the weather is kind. My friends who are in Greece at the moment have had to go out and buy winter clothes, but I am sure the weather will nto dampen any fun!
And I wish wish wish I could be at the Camp Widow this year. Maybe next year. God is in the miracle business after all!
i remember a trip up a very hot/steep volcano. I remember an illegal picture in front of a major Greek landmark (but i thought it was the acropolis)...but i do NOT recall anything about a whorehouse...and i've read every blog. what am i forgetting?
I'm a reader not a noter, HaHaHa!!! Also have no clue as to what happened and will not co-opt answers from those entered before me.
I have followed your blog for a very long time and have never commented. So I don't know if I'm a lurker or a peep. Maybe I am a bit of both. I'd love to win a "surprise". Have a great trip,
I still read! Have a great trip.
NLynch
Janine,
I am a part time lurker. Read your blog because I have a close friend who reminds me of you and I learn how to help her by reading your blog. Hope you have a good time. Love, Raydene
I remember the peeps :) And, I'm a faithful lurker.
Chris
Mollie B here again! Does "do vinjenja" mean goodbye in Croatian, possibly?? Sounds like you're having fun! Keep it up!
Mollie B
oh… i lurk on occasion, and i read, too, but i've been AWOL from all of my regular blog stalking lately.
is that goodbye in croatian? or serbian?
yeah, i remember you got busted for contraband photographing. hahaha. you be a good girl on your trip, okay?
It's Bosnian for Goodbye.
Actually do have a request for you to bring something back for me - a photograph of the greek cookbook they sell everywhere. Or maybe it's the Cretan food one. About A5 size.
I'd like to order it but can't remember what it's called!
If you see it and can post a photo that'd be great!
Hope you enjoy some retsina (best drunk with sprite in my opinion)
Sounds like you are having a great time. But then it's rate that you don't enjoy your adventures. Thanks for taking us along, hope you don't have to explain yourself to any security officer this time!
Laura C
I'm a Lurker and just saying Hello!!!
Maybe I popped in just to get the giveaway! :) Hope you are having a fabulous time! I am jealous. I have always wanted to go to the Greek Isles. It looks so beautiful there!
Dude, where are you?
