I had a wonderful weekend in Canton, TX (please Google it if you've never heard of it .... a-ma-zing!) with 10 of my sorority sisters. We were all in the same pledge class and we made this our 2nd annual trip. There is such joy on everyone's face when we all first see each other. And lots of hugging and laughing and yes, a bit of noise.
Anyway, I am SO grateful for these "sisters" and what they've added to my life. We love each other .... a lot and always pick up right where we left off.
There are a few other things that I'm grateful for:
41. A soft, loudly-purring, loudly-meowing, irritatingly impatient, endlessly touch-needing, and always loving kitten/cat ..... who does not allow me to walk from room to room unaccompanied (and meows and sticks his paws under the bathroom door so that I'm re-living my "mother of toddlers years") .... named Oliver. :)
42. A daughter who is teaching me more about patience, dedication, commitment and love by teaching, and loving, behaviorally-challenged children whom not many people have loved (or committed to stay with). She is my hero.
44. The warmth of the sun on a cold day, as I sit and watch good friends play tennis.
45. The laughter of friends.
46. My Son's smile.
47. The silence in a room full of people, who are deep in conversation with God.
48. Imagining the look of surprise on the face of the person in the car behind me at the McDonald's drive-thru ..... when he/she found out that his/her order had already been paid for. :)
49. The hundreds and hundreds of trees I see each day .... and imagining the time and events they've lived through.
50. Taking a bag of trash outside, thinking of my daughter driving home that night and then seeing her red Honda pull into the driveway at that moment.
I'm also thankful for my brother, who I will be seeing tomorrow after I fly to Anchorage. Yes, I've had to dig back through my winter clothes to pack for this trip. And I'm thankful that I'm pretty much packed .... finally. Of course, 6 days after I get home I'm leaving to take my Mom on a Mediterranean cruise and have yet to even let my brain go there (remember ..... my nickname is Scarlett .... O'Hara).
My brother is having back surgery on Wednesday and from what I can gather .... my job is to basically kick his butt when his misbehaves as a patient. That, and force food and pain meds down his throat.
So really ..... I'm just being me ..... a hugely mean mom. :)
I hate to "out" him here ..... OK, whatever ...... I love "outing" him here ...... but the last time he had back surgery they sent him to San Francisco for it. My dad went up to help out. Less than 24 hours after the surgery he and my dad were out walking the streets of San Francisco.
I.
Don't.
Think.
So.
Not on my watch!!
Oh, and another thing I'm grateful for ..... that "he who shall not be named" finally received the justice he deserved. And I wonder if he's at this very moment, wondering why it's so hot and where his 72 virgins are! At least ..... I hope that's what's going on.
OK .... here's the last thing that I'll tell you I'm grateful about today (not that I'm not grateful about a ton of things ..... I'm up to over 400 things .... working to my list of 1,000 things.
Anyway, Daughter #2 just posted another video on YouTube. And of course I have to
share her video with all of you.
You're welcome. :)
And thank you for watching. :)
Happy Monday, Peeps.

Well I had to go to Fisherman's Wharf!!!! Back surgery or not, I had things to do! It wasn't so much the walking around as much as it was climbing around on an old battleship that didn't help much. However, I learned from that experience, and this time I will do absolutely NOTHING. I will sit on my butt and have food brought to me, drinks brought to me, oh and since bending over will be very difficult, when I have to go to the bathroom.....
See ya in a few hours!!
Love ya!
Little Bro
