.... can lead to HUGE changes of attitude!
Well, at least with my attitude.
Others still need to work on theirs, but that's a different story .... and one that I won't write anything more about (tonight) or my attitude will take a dive.
So, where was I?
Oh yes .... the weather.
Or more specifically, the change in the weather.
Oh.
My.
Goodness.
The last two mornings I have played tennis in not-112%-humidity & not-hotter-than-blazes-temperatures and it has been .... in a word, FABULOUS!!!
We finished playing this morning around 11:30 and it was ONLY 80 degrees!
Now I know that you folks in the other weather-gifted states may not be able to grasp the miracle of a 15 - 20 degree drop in temps, but just close your eyes for a moment.
Really.
Close them.
Wait .... never mind. Bad idea. If you close them then you won't be able to imagine what I'm going to have you imagine, because you won't be able to see your computer screen.
Hey, it's almost 11:00 p.m. and I've had a busy day. Do not judge.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure what to have you imagine, because I can't think of anything quite as hot, humid and hellish as days on end of 100+ temperatures in this part of Texas.
So you're just going to have to trust me on this one ..... it's FABULOUS!!!!
And no, it's not supposed to last.
Sigh.
Thank you to all of you who are praying for the people affected by all of the fires. I can't believe they're still going on .... and getting worse.
It suddenly feels like we've become California.
Well, except for the whole pickup trucks with gun racks and "football is more important than food" thing we've got going on.
Speaking of pickup trucks .... I had to take my car to the shop on Friday (no, it's not a truck .... wait for it)
so that the other insurance company can finally pay for me to get a new mirror, new paint, new pin stripe and maybe even a new tinted window because of their lovely customer who should've been forced to take a class in road rage .... or at least received a ticket!
Any-hoo, (moving along to keep the good attitude) said insurance company is also paying for my use of a rental car. So when I took my car to the shop I was given a ride to the rental car place, where they had less than stellar offerings. But the guy in charge promised that they would be getting some nice cars in later that afternoon. Since I was not in a hurry, I agreed to come back later .... after he called to let me know he had a car for me.
He called my cell phone about 3 hours later. I didn't hear it ring (WHY is that, by the way?? I hate it when that happens!) so he left a message. When I finally noticed that he had called, I clicked over to the message and heard this:
Agent: "Hey, Janine, this is _____ over at _____ car rental. I have the sweetest car for you and you're going to love it! (I must insert here that I was a wee bit doubtful that he and I would agree upon what type of car I would consider "sweet") Here's what I've got: a Dodge Ram truck. It's fully loaded and is a 4-door. Call me back and let me know when you want to come and get it. Check ya later."
Me: I'm not certain but I think I may have said, aloud .... and to myself .... "You have GOT to be kidding me."
Most of you have a good idea of my appearance.
Approximately.
He knew first hand what my appearance is.
It's short.
No, not really short .... and personally, I don't consider 5'4"-ish to be all that short, but I know that many people do (don't get me started) so I will abide by that definition here .... but only for the purposes of my story telling.
So no .... I am not a large person.
More on the petite side .... unless I'm mad.
And then I can get very large.
But I digress.
I returned Mr. Agent's call.
He seemed very deflated to learn that I did not want a truck.
No way.
No how.
Like I want to spend that much money in gas!
Or have to use a ladder to climb up into it.
He then offered me a Dodge Challenger, which Son #3 overheard and told me to take. Only he said it with a lot of excitement and made it seem like I'd be a fool to pass up on that opportunity.
Forgive me .... probably most of you, but I didn't know what a Dodge Challenger looked like. Mr. Agent was talking in one ear and Son #3 was talking in the other, saying things like "cool", "sporty", "sweet" (yes, he tended to overuse that description), "fun", etc. And while these two males regaled me with the virtues of the Dodge Challenger, I was looking for pictures of it on the internet.
And when I saw it, for some reason all I could picture was "The Dukes of Hazard".
No, I've never seen one episode of said show, nor do I know what kind of car was featured on it .... I didn't say it made sense ..... I just said it was all I could picture.
And no, I didn't want the Dodge Challenger.
I was probably Mr. Agent's biggest disappointment of the day.
Poor guy.
I am now driving a Kia Sorrento, and I must say that I'm enjoying it.
I don't know all that much about cars (I bet the whole Dodge Challenger thing gave that away, didn't it?) but this one, while not what I would consider "sweet", is very easy to drive, turns on a dime, goes from zero to .... something, pretty quickly .... and has what I consider to be of foremost importance:
satelite radio.
I am one happy camper ..... I mean, driver.
:)
Check ya later, Peeps.
And Happy Wednesday/Thursday.
:)
