As will most people in the United States.
Today on the radio I heard a speaker who was giving advice to people who are very stressed out about the election.
So stressed that it's interfering with their daily lives.
OK ........ REALLY?!
Call me unpatriotic, or apathetic, or whatever ...... but I just don't get that.
I voted. I made my voice count.
I'm not sure what it will count for ..... but I performed my duty/obligation as a citizen of these United States.
Unfortunately, neither major candidate has all of the qualifications that I seek in a leader of my country. For me, it came down to choosing the lesser of two evils.
And I hate that.
That's not what our founding fathers had in mind ....... at least I would guess it's not.
But there you go.
I voted for the one who I thought would hurt our country less.
And then I let it go.
I don't understand getting so stressed about something over which you have no control, other than your one vote.
Besides, God knows who the next president will be. And the one after that.
And this may just be my opinion, but I think He can do all kinds of thing with, through and in spite of whoever happens to be the President.
I may not agree with America's choice (or rather, the electorate college's choice .... don't get me started on THAT one!) when it's all said and done, but that won't matter.
Whoever wins will be our President.
Will be my President.
I probably won't always (or even mostly always) agree with him, but I'll respect him for the office he'll hold.
And I'm sure I'll complain once in a while about some of his choices, but that's my right ...... because I voted.
My thinking is ...... if you didn't have the pride to go vote, you don't deserve to have the right to complain.
Maybe that's just me.
But I doubt it.
So, back to the beginning.
I'll be glad when this is all over (especially if we don't have the results until Wednesday!).
All of this political stuff just isn't my cup of tea.
That's because it's not about running a campaign that tells America why you'd be a good President.
It's about telling America how awful the other candidate is. It's about running people through the muck. It's about trying to ruin someone's reputation.
I've only known one politician in my entire life who I trusted 100%.
And who deserved that amount of trust from everyone he served.
He never campaigned on the backs of the other candidates, but only on what he could, and would, do.
Unfortunately there aren't enough candidates like that.
Because good people don't want to be run through the muck.
And even more unfortunately, that politician isn't here anymore.
He was a good man.
And a great husband and father.
I miss him.
I miss him a lot.
Now go find something bigger than this election to stress about.
Happy Tuesday, Peeps.
:)
