......... errrrr, I mean, until school's out for the summer. Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking when I titled this post!
The picture is from 2003. We were in Tulsa at a drive-in movie. He looked thrilled, don't you think?! It's funny (not in a ha-ha way, but in an ironic way) --- Daughter #1 is sitting behind him, knitting. She is at the moment, sitting beside me, knitting.
I told you it wasn't ha-ha.
My girls love to knit. Daughter #2 is also sitting beside me, finishing up a knitted teddy bear that she's going to send overseas to an orphanage. She plans to make many of these over the summer. I'll try to remember to get a picture of it when she's done. It looks SO great!!
I leave for Cabo bright and early Wednesday a.m. I'm not sure if I'll have internet so I shall have to leave you all with a question to discuss. Any suggestions? I hope that you all participate in the discussion so that I'll know you were thinking of me while I'm gone. I will be back late Sunday evening. And then my friend V will be coming for a visit!!
The June calendar is getting quite booked. Daughter #1 leaves for Boston on the 17th. I'm not focusing on that at the moment. In fact, I'm not really focusing on anything. Still a problem that I've had since December. I wonder if that will ever get better or if I'll just flitter from one thought/project to another mindlessly? I notice it with everything that I do. Today, for instance, we cleaned the house and I think I dusted one of the tables 3 times before I finally figured out that I had already done it! I kept getting distracted and would end up in another room and start dusting before I had finished the previous room. So then I'd go back to the previous room (once I remembered that there WAS a previous room) and re-dust some things in addition to dusting what still needed dusting. I'm getting senile and I'm not even 50 yet!
I did realize something though --- I hate cleaning. Not that I never knew that before, it's just been reaffirmed. I still haven't found anyone to help with the cleaning, though I haven't really tried since I'm hoping that I'll be re-modeling through the summer. I hope.
I miss the people I work with, very much. But I'm glad for the break. I'm glad to be able to spend time with the kids and to not feel that I'm not working as much as I should. Or that I'm not meeting anyone's expectations. But I do look forward to going back once the kids are back in school for the Fall. I hope they don't forget me, replace me, or put someone else at my desk!!
Oh, here's a question for today ---- do you think cats ever really know they have a name? I can't tell if my cats are mentally challenged, deaf or just plain stupid, but they never react to their names. Not at all. Now all of you cat-haters do not need to respond to this question. Really. Maybe this is something that just takes a while? Or maybe they just don't give a patooty.
So, tell me what you think ....... about this, or about anything.
And to all of you local moms out there --- enjoy your last few hours of freedom ...... errrr, I mean, enjoy the joyous moment when your little darlings come home for the summer!!!!
Whatever.

J-lucky you...our girls have been out of school since the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend!!!!!
AAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
However, they will go back to school end of August. ;)
As for cats...I don't think they respond to their names...do they? We always had cats growing up (in fact, I had a beautiful Siamese cat with blue eyes named "Tisha"...very stuck up...just like me ;P )
I only remember our cats responding to the sound of the electric can opener!!! Name your cats "RRRRRRR" from now on!!! tee hee!!
Have a great time in Cabo. We love you and think and pray for all of you everyday. (that will never change)

My kids got out 2 weeks ago... And yes my cats definitely recognize their names! They're about 3 or 4 years old now so maybe it just takes some time. Maybe they're just recognizing my voice, but they will come out when I call them. Being cats they don't always respond to strangers calling their names... Cats Rule! :)

I love you and you are NOT stuck up!!
How are the horses ..... ummm, I mean, dogs?

I do think cats respond to their names, but only if each one has a different little sing-song quality to it. What I really think they respond to is that and you can substitute any word if you use the right tone of voice...like stupid-head or idiot-brain.....it all works if said lovingly. Maybe we should try it with kids too! :)
Hey, darling daughter. My cats definitely know their names. But they are quite a bit older than yours. They just need time to learn, I guess. But you really do have two nifty kitties. They are the best. And they are lucky they found a home with you. Lovge you bunches.
Hmmm..nope. My cats are stupid.
The only time they even remotely seem to know their names are when there is food involved. Sumo & Ratchet...dumb cats. I do love them though;)
Have a relaxing time in Cabo. Wish I was going with you! I love you:)

Well I would have to say that yes cats do know thier names, but like mom said it takes awhile for them to learn it. Oh and K the "RRRRRR" name was freekin hilarious!!! I laughed pretty hard on that one. Have fun in Cabo on the beach with not sound of children going what's for dinner? I don't want that can we have....Just the nice sound of the waves as they crash on the beach...Ahhhhhhhhhh. Ok I'm back wish I was going with you. My kids get out on thursday but will be gone by Friday!
That must have been a captivating movie. So who is in the front seat asleep beside Jim? We can only see the tip of their head. Cute picture. I don't know anything about cats but my daughter's cat doesn't respond to its name unless you add, "Kitty, kitty, kitty." Of course, you have to say this in just the right way. Sometimes, it's just easier to go pick it up! Have fun in Cabo! Garnett
Garnett,
I think it's Son #3 and he was trying to reach for something.
I can't remember the movie --- but I'm sure one of the kids could!
The cat I had growing up knew his name Samson or called him Sam for short . . . here Sam here kitty kitty kitty, here Sam . . . he would come running at least for 17 years but then he kind of collapsed. I like to watch the different ways cats walk . . . some have that stuck up walk . . . now they probably would pretend not to know their own name . . . if you fuss at your cat because it is losing its hair it would also probably ignore you afraid it will end up were hairless cats end up.
Our cat doesn't know his name. He does respond to food being poured into his bowl. He was in the kitchen cabinet all day yesterday. We were eating dinner and we heard a meow. Opened the cabinet and there he was. He didn't really want to come out either. I am just learning about cats. We have always had dogs. I will be praying for you and have a great time in Cabo........CG
