Fuzzy Glasses

First ..... for all who are praying ..... Stellan is not doing well, so of course, neither is Jennifer.
Please keep storming Heaven's doors for this precious little boy.  God has used him immensely in his short 5 months here ..... many people's lives have been touched.
I pray that Jennifer can feel all of the prayers going up for them .... that she can feel the arms of Jesus wrap around her as we pray.

As far as what's going on in my neck of the woods ..... it's been a good day.
We came home from the lake this afternoon.  My house smells like paint.  We have now moved to the remodeling of the living room ...... which is just really paint and flooring.
Oh ...... and the entire removal of my staircase in the next couple of days.  That should make for some very interesting moments.
And pictures.
And blog posts.

Tonight I am pondering why we humans ..... most of us, anyway, see everything through fuzzy glasses?
I don't think we ever truly see ourselves ..... or each other .... clearly.
I have no doubt that when we get go Heaven we will see so clearly it will be hard to take everything in.
I can NOT wait.

But until then ..... I'm stuck with the fuzzy glasses.
I think that mine are less fuzzy now ..... there are many things I see now that I couldn't "before".  So I guess grief has given me better eyesight.

I think our fuzzy glasses cause us to look at people ... fuzzily ... and then make assumptions.  We assume good things, we assume negative things.
But we assume .... way too much.

If we could take off these glasses .... and see clearly ..... see into the soul of a person ..... we'd be very surprised by what we find.

People who appear to "have it all together" .... rarely do.

People who appear to be surrounded by tons of friends ...... rarely are.

People who appear to have everything they could ever want ..... rarely do.

People .... and their lives ..... are rarely what we assume.

I think we should try to take off these fuzzy glasses .... once in a while .... and try to really look into the heart and soul of the person next to us.
And ... if we can't see into them to see how they're doing .... no matter how hard we try ..... why don't we try this ....
... just ask them?

Take it from one who knows ...... assumptions (mine and/or yours) are usually wrong.  There are many lonely people, hurting people, angry people ...... who look like they are not.

And so we assume ...... and then miss out receiving and giving huge blessings.

I have recently been blessed by knowing people who have taken the time to look past their assumptions.
And I will be forever grateful.

I'm glad they took off their fuzzy glasses ........

Such well-focused comments.
I jump to conclusions too often. Listening helps me "see" more clearly.
Thanks for the updates on Stellan. I will pray.

A wise lady once stopped me in the middle of a comment/assumption that I was making and asked, "How do you know?" It took me aback because I didn't know. I thought that the person I was talking about was wealthy, happy, and had it all together. I didn't know though. I think it goes back to the mask thing. How can we ever expect people to take the time to love us and care for us if we won't take our masks off for them to see who we really are? Somedays fuzzy glasses are easier for me to wear because the balance nicely on my own mask.

This was an AWESOME post. So very true. Thank you, I'm going to link to it from my FB or blog (I haven't updated my blog in a while...). The only problem with asking people how they are, is that people rarely share on 1st asking, like "How are you?" I remember you'd blogged when you were going through the most intense moments you said not to ask because they didn't want to know... but of course some do and some don't. Some can enter into the pain and some can't. We never know who can, but those people reveal themselves to us. it seems like... :) I for one definitely wish more people would ask... sometimes just being asked is a blessing and shows people care.

Hi Janine.
I'm so excited. WE are praying so hard for little Stellan and I just called Michael at work. He is working on making a "Stellan" photo with an F-22 !!!
God is great and He is walking with Stellan.
XOXO

Wendee,
I did day that "How are you?" is one of the things one should not dsy to a grieving person. However, there's a huge difference in saying it because you don't know what else to say, and saying it because you truly want to know. The latter comes from the heart and grieving hearts hear so much clearer than non-grieving hearts. And they respond when they hear truly, deeply, heart-directed questions.
It most likely comes down to being willing to show them your heart, taking a chance that they may, or may not, be able to answer you. But even if they can't answer -- their heart will know, and remember, that you stepped out .... and took the chance.
And you will have made a difference.
I promise. :)

You are a wise woman!
I think it is the same with God and the way He works in our lives, sometimes we just want to figure out what he is doing or not doing, but I am reminded of the words...
"Now we see as in a mirror dimly, then we shall see face to face." Too often when we look to God or others, we try to see a situation through the filter of our own reflection, the best thing is to look directly into another's face with love and truly listen so that we can see them.... Have a beautiful day! MJD

You are so right. I do try to listen more and better, but fail so many times. I do sincerely care, it just doesn't always come across. You make me want to listen more and better. This was a great post. Thanks for the updates on Stellan. I have checked Jennifer's website too, just to keep up too. there are so many more hurting people than we really realize. So glad you are having some good days....may they continue to add up. Praying that your pain is much less and you are sleeping better.

AMW

When you play tennis does the concentration on the game take your heart away from the grief... just a bit? How often does your first serve go in? It seems that you may be too young...but did you ever use a wooden racket? If so? What was it?
