I am a soap opera

Look at those two --- newly married and still very naive.  I had no idea how much more I would love him 25 years later.
No idea.

Well, at least I know one thing:  my life never has a dull moment.  I AM a soap opera.  No kidding (and I know that most of you know this, too).

'As hurricanes hit the Gulf ..... so are the days of Txmomx6'.

My jaw has been aching for a little while (well, I don't know how long because I usually ignore my body) but the last few days it's gotten worse.  The ache has been so bad that I've had bad headaches.  So I called the dentist late this morning and they gave me an appointment today.  My dentist knows that by the time I feel pain it's way late in the game.
He took an x-ray and told me that I have 2 "situations".  The last time I had a "situation" with him I was one day away from him putting me in the hospital - so I'm not so comfortable with that term now.
Here are my "situations":  my back tooth has a hairline fracture through it and the tooth next to that has the beginning of an abscess.  So guess what I'm having done tomorrow?!
If you guessed a root canal then you win the stuffed animal!!  Let me know and I'll send you one.  OK, not really, but I might give you credit!
So now I'm on antibiotics.  And tomorrow at 3:30 I'll be trying very hard not to have a panic attack in the endodontist's chair.  It takes a lot of time and injections to numb my mouth (no comments, please), so I know my blood pressure shoots up when I have to have anything done.  My palms sweat, my heart rate speeds up and I feel nauseous.
It's really bad to feel nauseous when you're reclining back in a chair and have an appliance in your mouth to keep it open.  Really.
But hopefully by this time tomorrow night I'll be feeling better.

If I were a character in "All My Children" this would all go horribly wrong, I'd lose my memory, disappear for 3 months and then return with another face and body.

And then get married to Tad Martin.

I think I'm already ahead of the plot with the memory loss.
But I could be wrong.

P.S.  Leslie --- While I do love my puppy --- I think I do not like being told that we look alike!!  Please tell me that you need glasses and that I really don't resemble a Mastiff!!!!

J- I always tell my patients this: It only hurts to NEED a root canal...not to GET root canal.
Good luck!

Oh man that stinks. As one dental phobic patient to another, I totally feel your pain. Really. I have 2 situations in my mouth too, but no abcesses yet, just the cracks. My dentist pleads with me, but I won't cave until I'm in pain.

I did have to laugh at your AMC connection. Ah, Tad Martin, or was it his evil twin Ted??

yes, but you'd be played by Susan Lucci and have an incredible wardrobe and get to kill someone but get away with it...hmmm

so sorry about the root canal--the mouth propper-open thing is the most painful part---and how do they get that huge thing in your mouth anyway?

God Bless you,
susan

Susan,
Hmmmm, sounds like a good idea to me!!
And ... to answer your question -- they probably just shove it.

No, no, no.....you and Gabby look so soft and snuggly together. She has a soft face and you do too - lots of love there. And honestly, this is not a cover-up, this is exactly what I meant the first time around!

I think you are going to have an experience tomorrow in the endodontist chair like I did with my root canal....My endodontist (SHE in this case) was so gentle and nurturing that I felt like I had a spiritual experience in her presence. BE PREPARED! That is what is comin' your way! (I hope very much). If that is not the case, you just have your OWN spiritual experience, girl.

And you would be moving up in the world to have a face as soft as Gabby! lol as the young folks say.

Can't they give you a valium or something? I thought modern dentistry meant no pain and no worries!! So glad you can see the humor in this "situation"! Love you, V.

Well..there's yet another thing that we have in common that MUST be in the genes. It takes as many shots of novacaine as they are allowed to give me to make me numb. I HATE it because they always stick it right into the roof of my mouth. I too, have 2 situations and curently need two crowns, but I have been putting it off. I just don't FEEL like doing it! You know what I hate even more than the prop'r-open thing? I hate those stupid xray thingies that they make you bite down on! They gouge into my gums and they hurt and I want to beat the technician up!
Okay...SEE what you started?
Sis, I don't think you look like a Mastiff at all. She has MUCH bigger ears than you do! {ducking}

I love you....and I'll be thinking about you tomorrow and sticking pins in my dentist voodoo doll!

This post is right up my alley!! I think I will print out the comments and hang them up at work today! LOL!!
I LOVE the mouth propper thingy when I get work done!! WHEN I get work done...we are always LAST!!
To Lis-LOL!! I haven't gotten beat up yet!!
I always wondered...if decay or an abcess (which is PUSS, sometimes green, sometimes yellow)was on any other part of your body...wouldn't it gross you out?? So why do so many people think it's ok to leave it in their mouths??? EEEEWWWW!!!
LOL!!
OPEN WIDE and smile!
XOXO all!!

ROFL!!! K, I didn't know you were a tech! Well, you're safe...cuz you're too far away:) (Just stay away from my gums!)
Oh, I'm really NOT such a big baby and I haven't broken anyone's kneecaps yet. (Besides, my dentist and techs all know that I carry a gun everywhere I go, so they're VERY careful!)
I agree with you on the puss thing...that's just nasty. However, I do have a very high tolerance to the novocaine and it's really scary to have root canals done.
J, I'm "rooting" for you today! Hee-hee...I'm really awful, huh?
I love you!

Hi Janine,
I'm a two to three shots of novacainer myself and I've had plenty I mean plenty of root canals the last 3 done by an endodontist. I have to tell you I was amazed at much easier it was with the endo. No pain, no open your mouth wider, and twice as fast because that is their specialty. My only pain came when I had to pay the bill.
I liked the first comment that the pain comes from needing not getting.
But nevertheless we will all be praying for God to calm your fears.
Good Luck
