"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Colossians 3:23..... was so very nice. I'd love to say it was "great" or "awesome", because it kind of was, but those words don't seem appropriate for the occasion, I guess.
But the kids and I were happy with the love that was shown for Jim.
There was a lot of love in that building. I felt it, the kids felt it and I'd like to think that Jim felt it. And I know that the love there was a reflection of the love he felt for us and for the children of our community.
My "Circle" was there. You ladies mean more to me than words can express. I think you know that because we all feel the same way about each other. Thank you so much for being there. For supporting and loving me and each other. We are indeed a life line for one another.
Most of the people in that building yesterday are my "family". They love me, they love my children and they have been, are, and will be .... here for us.
All 6 kids are home. Son #2 made it in time for the ceremony. And let me tell you, time stopped for a moment when he walked in wearing his "blues". Tears were shed at the sight of him. And I think Jim was shedding tears at the sight of him, too. I know, with every fiber of my being, how proud he is of Son #2 and the pride with which he wears that uniform.
And how hugely proud he is of all of his children. They have been awesome this year and they love me so very much. They are my reason for being here. I am so thankful that God saw the "Big Picture" and knew that my plan of "one or two kids" would have totally stunk for me!
Each one of my children are the personification of God's love for me .... and for Jim.
So, thank you to everyone who was there. Thank you to everyone who wanted to be there but couldn't, because I know your heart was with us, as were your prayers.
Thank you to the school board for remembering him. I cannot hear enough how often people think of Jim. It never huts me, it never makes me sad ..... it makes me, and the kids, so very happy to know we're not the only ones.
Thank you for recognizing him, his dedication, his leadership, his faithfulness, his service and his humor.
And speaking of his humor ..... a question was asked by our wonderful Pastor, who did a great job of speaking yesterday ....... "Did Jim ever utter the words, "I love going to school board meetings"?
Ummmmm, I think it's safe for me to say ...... I don't recall those exact words ever coming out of his mouth.
But here's what he would say, or rather, text (since I never got to attend a meeting!), me about the meetings.
When it was an exceptionally long or contentious meeting and I knew he was going to be there a while, I'd text him in the middle of it, just to make him smile.
And quite a few of them went like this:
Me: So ..... having fun yet?
Jim: Well, I only have one question.
Me: Yes?
Jim: Do we have any Scotch at home?
So, in a way, since he loved Scotch .... and he seemed to need it after several school board meetings, he must have loved those meetings!

Good afternoon my darling daughter. It was, indeed, amazing. The love was so thick you could actually feel it wrapping around you. The reason for the tribute totally sucked, but the event itself was beautiful. I felt honored to be among those attending. I love you very much.
Janine, thank you for telling us about the dedication. Since I am an Army brat and men in uniform thrill my heart...my eyes teared up when you said Son#2 walked in in his blues. I am sure he took everyone's breath away...men in uniform do that and one as nice looking as he is really do. You have the right to have so much pride in your children. They are all great, your descriptions say so. You have a "right" to be "proud" of yourself too...you have grown alot thru all of your suffering and pain. Share in the light what you have learned in the dark and I think you are doing that and will continue to do that. May each and every one of you have a blessed week enjoying each others company. May the Lord of Light shine brightly for each of you in the coming year...Blessings, Mary Lou
I'm so glad that it was a nice dedication. You need to post a picture of son#2 in his blues. I would love to see him. Wish I could have been there like I said before but you do have amazing people there who love you and I am greatful for that. I love you sis!
I sure wish I could have been there too. Your pride and love in the kids is so apparent and so deserved! I'm betting that P was dashingly handsome in his blues and that he really makes his dad proud! I'm so glad that your Circle can share this moment with you too, and I'm grateful for all of the support from your friends and family. Jim was truly an amazing, wonderful man and all that he gave to his community and family lives on as people remember him so fondly.
I hope you're able to indulge in the little gift that I sent!
I love you so very much,
Lis
Grateful to hear how amazing the dedication went! To have a building named after you, that is HUGE! The mark Jim left on that community will never be forgotten! Grateful for all of the support you had there and for the love being so thick you could feel it! How awesome and amazing!
Love you,
Julie
Lis,
Thanks so much for the basket. I will indeed be indulging tonight!!!
I love you!
We have COLOR!!! I like the new look:) (although it was driving me crazy today while you were working on it because everytime I logged in, it was different!)
Love you,
Lis
The dedication was beautiful. Jim is loved very, very much. All of you are. Seeing all the people there and all the young people! there must have been as many kids and teenagers as there were adults- that was awesome. Parker looked wonderful in his dress blues. All the kids looked wonderful. You and Jim have a beautiul family. There are so many things in your life to be proud of.
I loved meeting the women in your circle-they are wonderful women. I hope V got off safely today.I'm so glad she was able to come! What a great friend.
I hope you are able to catch up on your sleep tonight- the puppies are adorable, what a great experience for C!!!
I love you, K
Dear J,
I'm so glad the dedication was nice and that all the kids made it back. Sounds like P knows how to make an entrance!
You've been in my thoughts and prayers. Your letter to Jim was beautiful. He was blessed to have you and the kids.
The puppy delivery was cool, especially for C. They looked very cute and snuggly.
I love the new look! Very pretty colors. Not surprising though that I like the green - it's the exact shade of our family room walls. It wasn't a hit with everyone though. After we painted I asked Mom what she thought and she replied "You don't want to know". Maybe it was just too much of a good thing in a room that size. :)
Love you,
A
Looks nice and bright!
The new look on your site is really pretty. You rock...Love seeing your family in color. May today be a good day for all of you.
Janine,
I've dedicated my life to teaching and learning so Jim's devotion to children is so touching to me, even if I never had the privaledge to meet him. It amazes me that he was a school board member; and having been to more than a few AWFUL school board meetings, I can FEEL for what he had to endure. (Nothin' wrong wit' the public school....'cept the Public).
I'm bursting with pride for him, and you, and your kids. It's truly God's work.
Hornets FOREVER!
Gail
I had to laugh about needing Scotch after a school board meeting. The few I've been too would have been much better if I'd had a drink before hand.
Lisa B.
I'm proud of you P!!
