Thank God ....

.... for my sister-in-law, who sent me an e-mail this morning, encouraging me to bring the kids there for New Year's.  She even looked up flights for us.
So, being the sometimes-impulsive-though-I've-been-working-on-that-for-over-25-years-person that I am, I gave it a moment of thought.  And then I thought, "Why not?!".  So I looked up the flights and found that we could get out of here at 6:30 tomorrow morning.  I told the kids the plan and started the booking process.
Thankfully, the part of me that's learned to be a bit less-impulsive, decided to look at Continental, even though I knew the prices would be astronomical.  To my surprise, they were not.  In fact, they were less than what was posted on CheapTickets.  Much less.  And we can leave on Tuesday and so have more time to get ready.
And much more importantly --- they are non-stop (as opposed to the three stops we would have had with CT).
And even more amazingly ---- can you stand to be amazed even more? ---- and a little bit doubtfully ---- we're in first class.
I KNOW!!!!
I guess that they're just filling up the last possible seats and they put us in first class.  I am sure we will show up at the gate and our boarding passes will be ripped from my fingers and we'll get the restrooms to sit in, but until the occurrence of that tragic event ........... YIPPEEEEEEE!!

So we're getting last-minute things done tomorrow and heading off bright and early Tuesday.  My children are feeling relieved.  Bless their hearts .... they have too much OCD from both parents in them to really, really be mentally prepared for a 6:30 a.m. flight tomorrow. They were being "out there" though, in saying they were OK with the plan, through gritted teeth.  I was proud.

And just to let you know what an awesome, generous, selfless, benevolent, and giving mom I am ....... I am giving Son #3 the extra ticket to the Bowl game.  MY Bowl game, mind you.  OKLAHOMA STATE'S Bowl game.  MY alma mater.
Heavy, heavy sigh .......
I am generous ...... but ......
He.  Will.  Owe.  Me.
Forever.
Especially if we win.

Mom and D will swoop in and take care of the home front.  And the animals.  Yay for Mom and D.

So there we go .... New Year's Eve and Day with family.  With Jim's family -- my family -- our family.
I couldn't ask for a better plan.
Thank you, Papa.

Uhhh, I coulda swore we invited you to Alaska MANY times. Just cause it's -7 here right now and it's 65 in San Diego should not deter you, oh sis of mine. We have a warm home and warmer hospitality.

I'm just kidding, about giving you a hard time anyway.
I'm not kidding about the invitation and it is always open. I can take off work ANY TIME you want.

Love ya and have fun!

Ummmmm, Little Bro ---
I must confess .... the negative degree do have a wee bit of a less-than-positive-attraction for a visit. Well, the negative degrees and the 45 million hours it takes to get there.
But I love you anyway. And at least I HAVE visited you there!!!!!!!!!!
