.... which means back to the life-sucking heat and humidity of south Texas. I thought I might need an oxygen tank when I walked down the jetway off of the plane.
Houston loves to just smack you in the face in the summer.
Sigh.
Anyway, I am back.
Everything is unpacked and, more importantly, finally put away.
The laundry is almost done.
The house is still standing.
In spite of ...... well, just in spite of.
The dog is still here.
My car is still in the garage.
Not bad.
Not bad at all.
I haven't gone through all of my pictures yet, nor finished writing down what we did each day so a trip review is still forthcoming.
But, I do have a couple of pics to show you tonight (or today, depending on what time of the day you're reading this).
Remember the Parthenon story? The picture the ticked off Greek person made me delete?
It seems that it's perfectly fine to take a picture of a person in front of it.
(As long as said person isn't holding anything like a flag, food item, baby wearing a Hard Rock t-shirt, etc.
OK .... I made up that baby t-shirt one, but I'm not so sure that I'm wrong).
It's also not a great idea (again .... WHO KNEW?!!) to hold these in front of it:
Look at them ..... they are too cute for words! How could anyone not want them included in a picture???? (I'll tell you later where they are in this picture.)
Well, fortunately for me ..... Daughter #1 was able to delete the wonderful picture that I took. (The Greek woman/guard told me that I could not leave until it was deleted. No joke.
I think I even asked her, rather incredulously, if she was kidding. Just so you know ..... she had no sense of humor at all, nor was she kidding. Sheesh.)
She made us show her the lineup of a couple of pictures on the camera to prove that it had been deleted.
So Greece ..... or rather, the Parthenon, is safe from being seen as a commercial image .... at least for Peeps.
That means, that whatever you do, Peeps .... NO MATTER WHAT ..... you MUST forget that you ever saw this:

Because if anyone from the Greek government comes to get me .... I'm going to tell them that one of you must've hacked into my blog and put in what must certainly be a photo-shopped picture.
Even if it isn't.
Shhhhhhhhhh.
Oh, and Happy Sunday, Peeps.
:)

P.S. The above shot was one I took BEFORE the guard saw me take the one she made me delete. So I did lose one of the shots .... and it was better than this one, but you get what you get (and what they don't know you photographed!).

oh. that is classic!! love the photo.
can you imagine how many people they must have at the parthenon policing the cameras?? wow!
be glad you have digital. in the old days you would have lost everything on that roll of film.
glad you had a nice trip.
Can you not go anywhere without getting into trouble with the "picture" police!! :) Can't wait to see more pictures! Vicki
i knew you wouldn't disappoint us by completely deleting that shot!
I thought I'd go ahead and ask my Wednesday question today, because I'm not sure I will have access to the internet come that day.
What do your kids want to be when they grow up? And as for the ones already in college/graduated from college, what do they do, and do they aspire to do something more?

M.C. ....
Thanks for the questions.
Let's see ..... Daughter #1 just graduated from grad school ,,,, she studied dramaturgy, which is research and writing for theatre. She was chosen for a year-long fellowship in Baltimore (yes, with pay AND with an apartment!). She starts in August and we'll see what happens from there.
Daughter #2 ultimately wants to be a social worker. She plans to go to grad school for that.
Daughter #3 starts teaching this Fall. She's a Deaf education teacher ..... she teachers deaf children. She's very excited (as am I!).
Son #1 wants to be an accountant (the apple didn't fall far) but has always been encouraged (especially by me) to go to law school. He'd be fabulous. He can argue with a tree.
Son #2 says that he wants to join the Marines after college (he has a year of high school left). We'll see... that's a long way off.
Son #3 says that he wants to be a cardiac surgeon.
There you go. I don't think I forgot anyone, but if I did I'm sure someone will let me know. : )
You are such a rebel. I love it!
