We are in Nairobi and its 5:30 pm, 8:30 am at home. Yesterday is mostly one big blurry exhausting airplane ride. We arrived around 10:30 last night. HOLY COW!!!!!!! Sorry, a guy on a bike almost got smashed by the truck in front of us.
Yes, bikers should stay in their own lanes, but Nairobi isn't about lanes as much as just one medium-sized path. Meaning 1 1/2 lanes in the US. And everyone thinks they have right to be in one, driving, pedaling, trod ding, running or crawling at their own pace.
Now, where was I? Oh yes, the plane rides.
We flew into Heathrow yesterday am (which was the day before yesterday's pm for all of us). Now, call this strange, because I certainly did, but British Airways and its level of trust of the USA and its very own security system AND its very own British employees?
Not so much.
They took us off of the plane, herded us onto buses and then made us go through several hours of their security system! Several people were forced to repack their bags, get a different bag, or get rid of things. All the above had made it quite safely through Houston's security.
Well, by the time all 60+ of us finished with that it was time to board. And so we did. The second flight was mostly miserable because I was beyond exhausted but couldn't sleep and i was tightly squeezed in the middle seat. (If i were ever elected President, or Queen of the World, id outlaw all middle seats ) At one point, after jolting awake from a slight doze, taking off my sleep mask and removing my pointless earplugs, I saw that our row was completely surrounded by laughing, jabbering people.
Yes, seriously. I took my blanket and pillow and headed to the back empty space by the door, where I nudged myself in, sitting up and instantly fell asleep. I have no idea how long I slept before being jolted awake again by a flight attendant telling me I couldn't sleep by the door. It was fine for four men to gather across the way at on other door, but not me. I took my time getting up, which made her use her "bossy voice". Puh-leaze! She's British. It's not possible. I gave her my very best American/Texan/exhausted woman who's raised six kids voice, and basically said Do NOT mess with me at this point in time. The British will lose THIS battle, too. And than said I'd stand up in a minute. A younger attendant laughed with me and rolled her eyes at "her highness".
Ok, we made it. Chose to have a quiet day, still exhausted. It's time for dinner so I have to end this. Tomorrow we head out into different areas of the country. Hopefully I'll be able to write more then.
Bye, Peeps.
And Happy Saturday.
:)

Thought of you yesterday while reading this in my Bible study, "God doesn't always call the equipped but He always equips those He calls". God speed!!! Much love, Cindy T.
I'm voting for you. Those middle seats and people in them: Off with their heads! Enjoy that wonderful country with its many new memories.
