It's Saturday a.m. Getting ready to head back to Nairobi. Our flight is at 11pm. We have 5 hours in (Amsterdam -- party time! Right) and arrive home around 1:30 pm. Sunday.
Yesterday we saw around 500 people. My blessing: an 87 yr old woman so frail & tired she just waited out on the stoop. I went out to fit her with her glasses and she immediately perked up. She talked excitedly for a bit (I had an interpreter) then she grabbed my hands & said, "I'll see you in heaven!". Wow....that's all, just ... wow.
Here's part of my list:
1. I will miss the sounds of Kenya.
2. I will miss the people -- a lot.
3. I am going to be less patient with the complaints & "problems" of others back home (including mine!),
It may seem strange, but ever since standing in Kibera, a line from a song in "Wicked" (I said it was strange) has been running through my head every day. I go to sleep with it and wake up with it -- every single day: "Something has changed within me. Something is not the same."
I hope it stays changed.

Maybe we can make a mother-daughter trip next? I think Whitney would love it. At least once she got there. haha

That's MY sister!!!! And Oh so proud of you! Safe trip and I can't wait to talk to you!
What an interesting post about what was surely a life changing trip. If you aren't changed by such a vastly different culture I would be more surprised.
