...... I'm leaving today.
Gonna make a brand new start of it .... in old New York!!!!
Did you hear Frank Sinatra while reading that?
If not, try again.
(And no, I'm not moving there for good. Yet.)
So yes, tomorrow I'm heading north. Whoop!!
With my Mom. Double Whoop!!
This will be her first time to see the apartment.
It will be her first visit there in about 11 years.
I've told her that I will be dragging her butt (I actually may have said ass, but it's ok. It's in the Bible.-- Hi, Daughters #2 & #3!) all over town.
She has no doubt, because the memory of being drug all over that city back in 2004 is deeply embedded in her psyche.
So much so that I think she still mumbles out loud when she has nightmares about walk-racing across New York.
At break-neck speed.
Hey, if you can't keep up with me then you need to either stay home, or get one of those scooter chair things. And then stay way over on the other side of the street, because I will NOT accompany anyone using one of those.
At least, not at this point in my life.
: )
I happily packed up 4 large suitcases with fall/winter clothing, and all of my boots, and several coats.
And then I took them to UPS. We will be reunited on Thursday.
Today I packed 2 more large suitcases with spring/summer clothing, some board games, and about 100 hangers (hey, I like those skinny felt-like hangers. And yes, I could buy them in NY, but why? I can pack them for free .... and I do have plenty).
I had to pack and re-pack these bags about 3 times. I was trying to even out the weight.
I think I managed to get all 3 of them at a smidge under 40 lbs. Though there's a solid chance that one is a smidge over.
I worked up quite a sweat doing all of that.
And then decided to work out and work up more sweat.
I hear that's good for you.
Whatever.
So thanks to all of you who commented, emailed, messaged me on FB and/or told me in person you're very happy for my children. It's meant very much to me, and I would guess that it's meant even more to them.
It feels so great to have things going well. And things going well is not something I take for granted.
At all.
Anymore.
We experienced a very, very long drought.
I'd like to think that we've put in "our time" and so will be able to avoid such a horrific drought ever again ...... but I'm not naive.
Anymore.
So I will enjoy the good, and the blessings that pour down like rain after such drought.
And treasure them.
As they come, and for as long as they're here.
I am very blessed.
And thankful.
Which reminds me ...... I can't wait to see all of you NY wids this weekend!!!! Triple Whoop!!
OK, Peeps.
Happy Wednesday and I'll see you from up north.
:)
