and more .....

This is my new microwave!!                       These are my new ovens!

This is my island, without the granite.  Supposedly the granite guys are on their way.  Apparently they're on their way from Canada or something because they were on their way about 3 hours ago.
sigh
But I still like my island!

And enough suspense.  This is Gabby ("God is my strength").

So yes, I got her.
She is 9 weeks and a little over 20 pounds.
Yes, I know how much she'll poop.
No, she doesn't slobber -- the males do that, not the females.
Yes, I know how huge she'll get --- her dad is 210 lbs, her mom is 165, and I am not an idiot...... well, mostly.
I have liked these dogs for a long time but never thought I'd get one.  But now, here I am as the head of my home.  Not by choice, not by desire, but just because.  I feel more comfortable knowing that I'll soon have a huge dog for company around here.  She's very sweet and laid back.  Google the breed --- English Mastiff -- and you'll see for yourself how sweet they are and what great companions they make.
So, yes, I did lose my mind.  As I said before, I'm totally aware of that.
Thank you for all of your comments and attempts to save me from my descent into total lunacy.
You are too late.

:)

OMG!!!! I have been in Greenwood (the old hood) since Thurs and just got home and read all your blogs that I missed and OMG!!! I want one too. We have been looking and the kids want one too. They just get so dang big and we are going to have hardwood floors in the entry way, kitchen and dinnette. I can't even imagine what kind of marks they will leave. But she is just tooooo dang cute!! Love you!

Dr. K has had 3 and she has hardwood floors. She says they've never left a scratch. She are so calm -- they don't scratch stuff up and they just walk around like lions. Hopefully she won't eat like one!!
They don't need a lot of room -- they are great "apartment dogs" because they don't run around outside or need a big yard. They are wonderful inside dogs.
I can get you one of her sisters for a great price!!!

Well done!
Yes, you will get SOOO tired of the "you know that's gonna be a big dog right?" question. I have sooooooo many times wanted to answer, "Oh !@#$% really? Do ya think?..."
And not in a sarcastic way. Like in a "holy crap" kinda way.Like I really didn't know!! LOL

You can get the next one when OURS has its first litter!!
Oh, I have plans for your lil' bro when he retires!! (just three more little years!!)LOL!!!
XOXO

Welcome to the fam Gabby!
XOXO from Sarge and Bella too!

Oops...and by the way. I don't think you are a lunatic either. It is a little comforting to know that when and if you are ever alone, Big Ol' Gabby is there to protect you. (I would safely guess that Jim feels the same way.)
XOXO

J--

I didn't have any doubt about the outcome. I'm sure Jim didn't either.....!! You did the right thing.

On another note, your kitchen is looking good. I know you are sick of it. I'm going thru a little of the same, but acting as my own contractor/designer. FUN!!!

I will talk to you soon. you are always in our prayers.

Oh my goodness, I do think you're crazy, but darn is she cute. At least you have C to pick up the poop in the backyard. Oh, and we had friends in Akron that had a female Mastiff named Georgia, and she did slobber some. She was very, very sweet though. Actually she slobbered less than H did as a baby. LOL

Congrats on your "baby". I am dying to know what the cats thought of her and vice versa. And how she did her first night and what you think now that you have her. You won't regret it and you will love her even more when she isn't a puppy anymore!! She is bigger than Huck, so you will have a nice giant to keep you safe and loved! Can't wait to see her!

LOL!!!! She's absolutely Beeeeeautiful!
As K said, you will hear "Gosh, do you have a saddle for that dog?"
"How much does she EAT?", and "I'll bet that's a LOT of poop!", so many times that you'll want to sock people when you hear those stupid things! Some people were here today and my big brown Newfoundland came out to investigate and say Hello...and I thought they were going to pee their pants! He looks like a big Grizzly bear and weighs about 150. He's just the cutest big 'ol fluffy thing and SOOOO gentle. He has a big, deep "WOOF" when he barks, which is seldom. His method of protecting me is to put his body between me and any perceived "threat". I've never heaard him growl:) Mastiffs are much the same. They are wonderful and I'm sure that you will not regret your decision!
Your kitchen is looking fabulous! I want appliances like that too!
Alas, I'm really just as happy with my new barn that we're building;) (You might want to consider building one soon too, since you're on your way to having a small farm in your house!"
Love you,

Lis

I'm soooooooo happy for you. Coming from someone who just purchased a Great Dane/Bull Mastiff mix, I understand the poop comments. I want to say, "My kids poop a lot too but once I got them trained as where to poop, it wasn't such a big deal." Well, I'm still working on Seth so what's the difference in adding a dog to the mix.
Our dogs will learn where to poop and we will love them. I already love mine and I can tell from the tone of your writing that you love yours as well.
I'm serious about the classes. Maybe we can go together.

Tamara,
I'm definitely in on the classes --- especially if we can do them together! And Dr. K wants to do them with Gabby's brother, Huck.
Also, what vet will you use for this giant dog?
I'm glad we're doing this together!!!
Love you.

Mike had nixed the idea of the mastiff. He says it is way to big and said that that is what kind of dog bit Lisa (his ex) and I said all the better to get one!!! LOL

Thanks for the perfect comeback Tamara! We hear all kinds of silly comments with our St. Bernard and our Great Dane. (it can occassionaly get annoying.)
We'll be using that one!!

Your heart and your head obviously said 'yes' and I think mine would too. Gabby is completely adorable and will give you such a positive focus and be a true, loyal friend. Enjoy....and keep the piccies coming.

Are these gentle giants the type to attach to just one member of the family? Or are their hearts large enough for more because you do have a big family and I know son#3 REALLY wanted a dog so much he PROMISED to be the pooper scooper!
Update us soon on how accepting the kitties have been to Gabby and when you are accepting visitors to come and meet your precious new addition!

ooohhhh, aaaaahhh, can I take back what I said about the big poop, and freedom to jet set around, she is just beautiful.

I love the puppy. I think they are beautiful dogs. Good luck with her. It looks like you will have peace in you house soon. As far as the remodel anyway.
