Although it may be Day 4, technically it's Day 5 since we prepared (well, I use that word loosely) and hunkered down on Friday, waiting for Ike.
Got the tree of of my house yesterday. The hole is patched temporarily.
The tree is still on the house at the lake (there are at least 6 huge trees down there -- I'm glad only one hit the house).
The weather changed overnight Sunday and it's lovely now (lovely, as in the temperature. The town .... not so much for a while).
The high today so far has been 77 degrees. Last week it was 95.
So we have the windows open and are enjoying the fresh air, something we can't do much down here.
So even though we have no power, it's cooler outside, I still have water (though we're not supposed to drink it), and I can still flush our toilets! THAT is huge. There's no water at the lake, thus no toilet-flushing. I am staying far away.
Here are some pics from my home, neighborhood and community:
Two trees that fell and criss-crossed each other at the end of my street -- blocking it until it could be cut:

OK, I just heard that a tanker filled up a gas station around the corner so I have to dash out of the office and go get in line.
Keep praying!!
Oh .... and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Still praying. Thanks for the updates. Know your family will be grateful to see and hear from you. Pray you got some gas. Praying for power and more power for you and everyone else in Houston, most especially for you. Keep looking up...He is there.
Wow - your damage was much worse than mine. I haven't been able to see tv until recently and did not know which areas were hardest hit. Sorry to hear that you have not been blessed with power yet. I am in Missouri City and this neighborhood got "back on the grid" (aren't you sick of that phrase?) around midday.
I agree that two major events in less than a year(loss of best friend/husband and now Ike) is quite trying. My neighborhood has really pitched in to support and assist each other and maybe that is the lesson here - helping and caring for each other. Although I am a bit sick of "lessons" by now.
I wish you strength through all of this. You are blessed to have family around, and I do envy you that.
I'm just so glad that you're all okay:) I love you and you're always on my mind.
I think we all agree that it's time for a HUGE break now!
Hugs,
Lis
