OK, holy moley ---- I don't blog for a few days and look at the comments!! A special thank you to all of you "lurkers" out there (or at least the ones who fessed up). It was nice to know you're there.
This is the post I would've done last night. But I was too overwhelmed to even write a post.
We got back from the lake yesterday.
This is my house:
The kitchen-- minus an oven, a cook top, a sink, a microwave and a floor.
This is the stack of bills that came with the 2-plus weeks of mail waiting for me:
This is the rest of the mail that I have to go through, make calls on and file:
This is the rest of the mail that I have to go through, make calls on and file:
This is my washer and dryer --- in the kitchen(sitting next to our 40-plus year old 2nd fridge (we've had it for over 25 years):
This is my laundry room, with a little bit of tile -- and no washer or dryer:
This is my family room and the back of the old ovens, which are too heavy for anyone to move out of the house. Seriously. I'm thinking they're going to tile around them and then we'll set the TV on them:
This - is - my - closet ----- do we all remember how much I hate clutter? Really, really hate it?
This is my clock. It's been 12:58 for about 3 weeks now. Just a battery -- that's all. Would you think that's too hard to replace? Evidently it's huge because no one in this house has lifted a finger to do it!
These are cinnamon rolls that I cam home to. They're a bit petrified and upon further investigation I found out they've been sitting there for over 2 days. I'm not really sure how they managed to survive 3 boys, but again, it seems too difficult a task to either eat them or put them away, or toss them. Sigh.
I'm feeling better today.
This is my closet now (V helped me hang up the clothes):
Here's another piece. As you can see, the ladder is still there and the cabinet doors are still gone, but I'm thrilled with the granite:
I'm much better tonight.
My microwave is back (it seems a worker took it because I'm getting a new one. I guess it didn't occur to anyone that ONE cooking appliance might be useful around here until the new ones are put in). The clock has a new battery (not that anyone stepped up to the plate on that one). Someone did step up to the "plate" of cinnamon rolls. I think they were tossed. Or just moved to a new spot by one of the workers --- I'm not too sure.
Every time I get overwhelmed now I wander into the kitchen and stare at the counter tops. Sigh (a good sigh).
V leaves tomorrow.
Excuse me, but I think I need to wander into the kitchen now and stare. Sigh (decide for yourselves what kind of sigh that is).

Oh. My. Goodness. Still, you've got to do what you've got to do and well done for doing it. Personally around six months after losing Ronnie I decorated my bedroom - our bedroom - the bedroom (still having issues with the 'ours' v 'mine' thing)at the time it was great therapy. Now, another 18 months down the line I've decided that deep pink and chinese lettering everywhere was a good example of *not thinking straight* after a loss :)) I wish you very well in getting your house sorted. You will. Love and prayers, Lisa
Love that granite! I can't wait to see it in person. I love the bits of blue in it. I am looking forward to seeing my own soon! We get to go pick it out in a couple of weeks. WooHoo! Love you tons!
Good morning my darling daughter. OK....I vote for V & family moving to Kingwood. She is such a godsend for you. I'm sure her family can adjust! :) I know your pain on your construction. Mine is certainly not nearly as bad as yours, but messy as heck, none the less. But I have a heck of a lot more control over my mess. I won't complain any more. I love you bunches. David is down at your place as we speak. We hope you will be coming down this weekend. See you soon.
The granite looks wonderful.
Your remodeling project brings back memories of my own do-over after Ed died. Hoped that changing the looks of my home might somehow make living there alone a little more bearable.
The picture of you and Jim also brings back memories-Those 3 butterflies in the background decorated my home too.
Hope your stay at the lake helped the mending heart.

Thanks for sharing . . . great taste in granite.
It's going to end, and it's going to be great! My kitchen floor (MUCH smaller project) is done (and miracle of miracles--they said two days and it took two days!)and I smile every time I walk in or look in that room. Hang in there! Susan
