It may be time to build .....

.... an ark.  The rain has been falling for 2 days and shows no sign of stopping.  I have quite a bit of lumber in my garage from all of the projects around here.  I'm sure I could build one big enough for at least me, Son #3, Gabby and the cats.
Stop laughing ..... I could totally do it.  IF I wanted to.  :p

No pictures tonight because at the moment I'm transferring info from one computer to another. Something that evidently takes all night.

Today was a busy day.  I went to work, then left to go pick up Gabby and take her to the vet.  She's been limping since Saturday and it's gotten worse.  She won't put any weight on her back left leg.  So back in to the vet I went.  I told them that I really liked them, but was tired of seeing them.  They agreed.
It appears that she has torn some cartilage or something else in there.  I have to keep her on pain/anti-inflammatory meds for a week.  And ..... get this .... keep her quiet.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!  Keep her quiet?!!  She can't run outside and she can't run around the house ..... ummmm, chasing cats.
I'll let you know how that works out for us.  hahahahahahahaha.....
Today was the first time that I actually thought, "What have I done?!"  This was after I got her out of the car, on her leash, and was trying to get her to walk, not run, into the vet's office.
She can literally drag me wherever she wants to now.  She weighed in at 70 pounds.  I may have to start carrying a cattle prod.
I was checking out after the visit and had her calmly sitting beside me as I stood at the counter, the leash looped around one hand, my pen in the other.  I was signing my receipt just as one of the exam room doors opened and a man came out with his terrier .........
I would loved to have seen this from the receptionist's point of view.  One moment I was there, the next moment I was not, as I had just been torn from my standing position into almost a face-plant position.  Gabby saw the dog, took off like a flash and pulled me along with her 70 pounds.  Everyone thought it was hilarious.
Well, almost everyone.
Someone else thought this: "If this horse pulls something in my arm so that I can't play tennis for a while, I'm going to be extremely ticked!".
Guess who thought that?

On a more somber note (sorry) .... today I also thought this:  "Will there ever come a time when I won't think of Jim and then immediately think  ....... 'I can't believe that THIS is my life.'
Ever?"
I'm guessing probably not.  I can't allow myself to think of him for long periods of time.  I can only go there for a moment or two and then I have to move to another thought.
I'm glad that sometimes I can share these moments with you all ..... it seems to work differently if I'm sharing something about him with someone else.  It's the times when I'm alone that I can't REALLY think about him.
So thanks for reading and for commenting ..... sometimes on the blog, sometimes by e-mail, sometimes face-to-face.

By the way, Gabby slept OK in her crate last night.  Of course her crate is right next to my bed so she knows I'm right there.  And she did seem a bit surprised when I wouldn't let her climb up on the bed and told her to get into the crate.  She looked at me as if to say, "I'm sorry, Madam, but you must be mistaken.  This is my bed.  This is where I sleep.  This is where I allow YOU to sleep."
But once she was in the crate/garage, she seemed to sleep well.  I still woke up around 3:00 but I do that every night, I guess.

OK, time to get back to my "after" life.  The cats are chasing each other up the stairs, Gabby is considering chasing them while she's chasing her stuffed shark.  She throws it up and around and runs after it.
It's time to make her be "quiet".
It's going to be a very bumpy week.

P.S.  Anyone know if a good sedative to give dogs to make them "quiet" all day?!

P.P.S.  Don't forget that tomorrow is "Ask Me Wednesday".  So start asking!!

Freaky Friday

Mardi Gras

Well, the hatches are battened, the yard is empty, the shutters are shut and the canned food is stocked.  OK, so I have 5 days worth of Chef Boyardee, but beggers can't be choosers.  I have an mattress in my bathroom and sleeping bags in my closets.  The flashlights are loaded and the ac is set very low so it will stay cooler longer.
I think we have about an hour until it really slams into us ..... it's already hit land.
We are "hunkered down".
We have cancelled my Grandmother's flight until next month.
My mom is here, K and her family are here.
I will post when everything blows over ..... so to speak!!
Hopefully everything won't be "Gone With the Wind".
OK, I'll stop.
Before I get really irritating!!!
Pray!!

Healing Rain

Healing Rain

Healing rain is coming down
It's coming nearer to this old town
Rich and poor, weak and strong
It's bringing mercy, it won't be long

Healing rain is coming down
It's coming closer to the lost and found
Tears of joy, and tears of shame
Are washed forever in Jesus' name

Healing rain, it comes with fire
So let it fall and take us higher
Healing rain, I'm not afraid
To be washed in Heaven's rain

Lift your heads, let us return
To the mercy seat where time began
And in your eyes, I see the pain
Come soak this dry heart with healing rain

And only You, the Son of man
Can take a leper and let him stand
So lift your hands, they can be held
By someone greater, the great I Am

Healing rain, it comes with fire
So let it fall and take us higher
Healing rain, I'm not afraid
To be washed in Heaven's rain

To be washed in Heaven's rain...

Healing rain is falling down
Healing rain is falling down
I'm not afraid
I'm not afraid...
